After getting really cold 🥶 🥶 🥶 and wet on Sunday I have not felt so good the last couple of days, feel like I have got a bit of a chill, so today, because of my rota and not feeling great yesterday, this was my first run of the week.

❄️⭐️❄️⭐️❄️⭐️❄️⭐️❄️⭐️❄️⭐️❄️⭐️❄️⭐️

My plan of running the longest run first was not going to work this week, so I decided to be kind to myself and run 4K instead, ( I would really ❤️ to finish the plan Christmas 🎄 week) and take it slowly and not worry about timings.

🎄🏃🏻‍♀️🎄🏃🏻‍♀️🎄🏃🏻‍♀️🌲🏃🏻‍♀️🎄🏃🏻‍♀️🎄🏃🏻‍♀️🎄🏃🏻‍♀️🎄🏃🏻‍♀️

I did not get out till late afternoon, so another run in the dark for me. I was not going to make the same mistake as I did on Sunday and let myself get cold, so I wore extra layers, long sleeve running top, fleece jacket and fleece hooded jumper on top (the jumper is loose) plus disposable gloves (crazy I know but surprisingly warm...I am hoping Santa 🎅 will bring me some running ones for Christmas). What a difference the extra layers made I felt so lovely and warm and so cosy.

I felt like a change of route today so decided to run around the outside of Clapham Common as it is well lit up.I did feel a little anxious that I may not feel so good running but I actually ended up having a really pleasant steady run and felt so much better after my run. It was really enjoyable to have a change of scenery, very pretty with all the Christmas lights and trees 🎄🎄🎄. By the time I looked at my watch I had already ran over 4K so I decided to continue to 5k. My time was 30:52 and my splits were 6:15, 6:03, 6:09, 6:12 and 6:00.

I felt so pleased that I managed to go out for a run today and so delighted that I feel so much better for it. Your post Jools really inspired me today and made me realise you don’t always have to worry about timings.

Happy Running everyone. 🏃🏻‍♀️💪🐻🐻🐻👨‍🏭❄️🎄

Great post Rebecca 👍 I used to be so regimental in the fact, j always ran in the mornings, it was my quiet time, girls in school, Mrs Wife doing the NHS thing, so I'd haul ass outa bed and run..... Lockdown and school closures and those cold winter mornings and my run times have shifted, I still favour mornings but, now I just go with the day and make it fit...... Though sadly due to the nightshift job dark running doesn't happen very frequently 🥴 great splits on your latest outing, the plan is working for you 👍👍

Thank you so much oh I love that Mrs Wife!! 👏👏👏 to your wife for her amazing work ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Yes feel like it is working although do feel a little nervous attempting the 9k but I am going to take it very slow.

Enjoy your next run

Thanks Rebecca 🤗

She takes it all in her stride (PPE is her middle name )

Nervous about one extra klm nah don't be, just do what you've been doing 💪, may venture out tomorrow 🤞see how the calf feels when morning arrives 🙂

That is great!!

I am a nurse as well, I work in a Hospice.

Thank you, I will try not to think / worry about the extra Km I don’t know why I get myself worked up when increasing the distance.

I hope your calf will feel ok and you are able to enjoy your run tomorrow.

Nurses and nocturnal shifts go hand in hand ( shift work is though evil 😵)

Hospice work I imagine although, hard at times deeply rewarding, work done by angels Rebecca.

As for the calf hmmmm we'll see, I'd like to think I'm wise enough not to rush and run on it 👍

Hey 9W2R.... that run sounds like it turned out brilliantly for you - and again, fantastic pace! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️😀Like you, I thought I'd start easy this week with a few days off then a 4 k interval run - my first intervals. I chose the NRC 'Find your Pace', which was really informative, but only lasted 15mins, so I decided to re-do it and ended up doing 5k - 32mins! 😀

Clapham Common sounds lovely. Am planning my first 9k on Sunday 😳 - probably to Barnes and back. We'll get to the end of the Magic Plan before christmas I'm sure!!!

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️😀🎄🎄🤶☃️

Thank you so much.

Lol that is funny we are both starting off on the shorter runs this week. Your time fantastic, well done.

That sounds like a lovely run such a lovely area. Wishing you good luck for Sunday. I am feeling a little nervous about it but I am sure it will be fine, going to take it slowly and pace myself.

Yes we have got this!!

Look forward to hearing how you get on

Another great run Rebecca 👍Glad you were warn enough this time !

And yes, good to have a change if scenery sometimes , I do tend to stick to the same old route too much , but I guess it's convenient for me .

And your right , it's the run that matters , the timings are secondary and it's nice to just forget about the tech sometimes 😁

Thank you Ian,

Yes I am the same tend to stick to the same route, I do plan to get more adventurous.

Yes exactly, nice just to be able to enjoy the run without any pressure. Feeling a bit anxious about increasing to 9k but hopefully will be OK.

Take care

That’s a great run, Rebecca, and I’m so happy to have inspired you not to worry about timings every time you run! 😊 It can be quite liberating and one less thing to be concerned about, especially if you’re a bit off colour.

And you managed to do 5K instead of your planned 4K! It just shows that we CAN change our minds in the middle of a run! (I often do that!)

Well done for successfully completing the first run of Week 6 👏👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️👍

Thank you Julia,

You really did, it resonated with me that you don’t have to worry about the timings, so thank you for that and yes fine to change our minds!!

Many thanks, going to take it slow and steady.

Take care
