Decided to have a lazy weekend this weekend, safe in the knowledge I could complete my Nike December 15k Weekly Challenge in the morning. I had 9.02k in the bank from last week and would do the remainder tomorrow.
So I was sat relaxing watching The Repair Shop (love that programme) and decided to see how much time I actually had to complete the challenge, opened the NRC app and saw.....7h 29m left ๐ฎ. Wow was not expecting that.....so to avoid the F word....FAIL, which nobody wants to use, I put my running kit on including my chest torch and set off in the dark.
Itโs the first evening run Iโve done, and it wasnโt half bad to be honest, I stuck to my familiar route which is well lit and it was quite pleasant seeing the Christmas lights on the houses, the streets were nice and empty and within no time Iโd reached the town centre, few dodgy looking characters here and there made me pick up my pace and I was soon heading home. I felt ok so decided to aim for a 10k, which I eventually reached at a respectable time.
Arrived home and the hound was ready for his evening walk ๐ฌ so took him around the block, before eventually getting home and having a hot shower and a well deserved beer ๐บ
Feeling quite pleased with that run, and may consider another evening run if the weather isnโt great one morning.
Thanks D-F, it was quite a nice run actually, maybe because it was unplanned. Some people go to so much trouble with their outdoor lights. The house opposite has a nativity scene in their garden with 3 foot tall figures!
I know ! in my mind I had a few days left, so was surprised when I saw that....the bling is virtual sadly, but still nice to complete it and add another badge to my Achievements ๐๐ ๐โโ๏ธ
Well done!! A good run. My 10k last week has unfortunately given me a little left knee niggle...so I overcompensated and got a right foot pain ๐. Have done a couple of sensible slow 3ks and seems to be ok
Thanks Maz1103 ๐ sorry to hear about the niggley knee and foot pain, you did the right thing to stick to shorter runs for a while, glad to hear your now on the mend ๐
Iโm beginning to love an evening run. Mornings just arenโt my thing! But good to mix it up now & again. Well done on your 10k. Couchphoenix, youโre always an inspiration!
Aahhh thatโs very kind of you, thank you ๐ Iโm normally too tired after work, so I stick to the early mornings, but as you say itโs nice to mix it up sometimes and I quite enjoyed that one, so I wouldnโt rule out some more evening runs.
A well deserved beer, well done on your 10k! I have to say Iโm quite taken with evening runs, I love the peace and quiet. Christmas twinkly lights sound like a lovely distraction too โจ๐
Thank You ACC, it wasnโt as cold as I thought it would be and the Christmas lights were a nice distraction, I canโt believe the lengths some people go to. Theyโve got the Nativity in one of the gardens opposite, complete with 3 foot figures ๐ฎ
The other day I saw a funny (US) video of someoneโs front lawn as bright as the sun with various festive light shows and then the house next door had simply put up some lights in the shape of an arrow facing towards their neighbourโs ๐๐๐ผ
Dragged yourself out of your armchair and went for the 10K, THEN you had to walk the dog (I hate that after a run) ... You deserve a medal! ๐ฉ๐บ๐ ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Evening run, walk the dog, have a beer, complete a challenge, thatโs 4 boxes ticked and you got to tour the christmas lights as well Lifeโs good eh?
Oh so very lovely, itโs my day off and i had to pop into work so that scuppers todayโs run but woke to freezing rain so wasnโt bothered, shopping and knitting while dinner cooks and watch a film, itโs like a Sunday
F word....Never! Itโs not in the Red Devilโs vocabulary ๐ช๐ป Definitely doing some of those Race at Your Pace runs Jane, they look really cool and the bling which looks great is calling me ๐ ๐คค ๐โโ๏ธ
I love a night run ๐ I'm SO not a morning person ๐ mind you I've only just finished work ๐ฌ great that you got out to finish your challenge CP... that's commitment for you ๐๐๐
Thanks Littleoyellow, I couldnโt not do it, if that makes sense and I enjoyed it more I think because it wasnโt planned. Itโs nice to think that I can just put my kit on go out there and run. Iโve just signed up for one of those Race at your pace challenges, 35 miles by end of December ๐
