Well, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it (yes I did !!) I won’t do it again (..... actually I might not !!). It’s just they the mind is weak the flesh is strong !! 🤨
Today was my long run, week 4 of HM plan with Jeff Galloway - run-walk-run method. Well, I know we’ve been persuading each other that it’s not cheating, but..... the plan was 8k walk run walk with 10mins either side warm up cool down. I reckoned that could be 11k altogether - it would be a new record for me. Yey ! But can I really call it a record if I Jeff it ?!? Hmmmm. Decided I would try to run continuously to the half way point at least - it’s nearly a month since my second 10k - I need to prove I can still do it !
Long story short (it was quite uneventful !) I just carried on running and thought I’d make sure I do 11k - the training programme finished just before I got there but I continued it. Anyway 11k whoopeeee ! But I hit 11k the top of a hill in the park and thought - ah go on then, keep going - it’s all down hill from now on - AND it’s freezing, don’t wanna get a chill walking home now, might as well run. So 12k came and went and by then my brain was probably oxygen starved cos I was thinking - hey - 10miles is 2*6.42k so that means 12.84 - I might as well keep going !! And to make sure I went all the way to 13k by which time I stopped cos I was at the gate. Even walked 4 flights up the stairs (slowly). I’m going to regret it aren’t I ?
And of course, I totally miscalculated - 10k is 6.42 miles not 10miles is 2*6.42k ! Doh. But 8 miles - not bad. Now for a lie down and stretch. Something’s clicking....
Ok. Back on the wagon next week - run -WALK-run !! 😝
