If you're wondering where you would like your running to take you next, thereβs lots of great advice here, take a peek:
OK. So is that 19, 9 or 10? π I'm not sure which badge to give you, but will give you a 60 minute one just now as you've definitely achieved that. Fantastic running - so much longer than those 1 minute segments in w1 r1!!!
Every year I like to set a challenge this year it was C25, I started on Boxing Day, completed and moved onto JuJu's Magic Plan. At 63 I decided on the timed version. Reached 60minutes, on 30th November, so just scraped under the 8 week wire! A huge thank you to everyone on this site without their motivation and positive posts there were times when I wouldn't have gone out. Happy Running xx
Fantastic! Congratulations - 10k is an amazing milestone, 60 minutes running is a long way from those 60 second segments of Week 1 and 10k in under 60 minutes is a great pace too!!! I have given you a 10k badge, but we can swap it if you would prefer the 60 minute one.
Now that's a great way to celebrate your first runniversary! Congratulations - look how far you've come since the 60 second slots in week 1. You've certainly earned your badge!
Hi there, I completed my first 10 k today after starting C25k in the first lockdown followed by Juju's magic plan_first timed then distance version. So grateful to all the administrators, moderators ,ambassadors and other contributors for all the encouragement and advice provided here. Many thanks!
Just finished week 5 of the magic plan - ran 8k in an hour and 4 mins so please could I have my 60 minute badge not the fastest but i'm still happy, never thought I'd be able to run for a solid hour! The goal is 10k by christmas, here we go!
Did my first 10k this morning and I feel great (full disclosure my legs ache but I have a big smile on my face!). I downloaded the c25k app in July & can hardly believe that I was struggling to run 3 minutes back then. π
Hi I completed my first 10k this month at a respectable 64 minutes , it was a new route recommended by a friend who's a triathlete, so much flatter than I normally run.
Hi LInda - I have been running 10kms for some time now (at least two months anyway!). I did not realise that I am entitled to add to my C25K Graduate badge for this. Could you do the necessary for me please? Thanks!ππ
I certainly will. When you're in the C25K forum you will see the 5k badge displayed, when you're here you'll see the 10k badge displayed. Well done on all those 10k runs. If you feel like going further, take a look over on the Marathon forum (very few people over there have ever run a marathon, don't worry!)
Thank you Linda, and thanks for the welcome note too. Marathons are not on my current wish list, although I've got to get the Edinburgh virtual half done by 31st Dec!! Since my max on my long runs is around 14k currently it isn't looking good. In any case, I like 10k, it is a distance that seems to suit me so any attempt on the half is a case of me overreaching and likely to be a one-off. Thanks again!π΄ββ οΈ
Don't worry too much - if you can get to 16k (10 miles) on a training run, then you should be good for the half marathon - many plans only take you to 16k before a HM. There are 10 mile and half marathon badges available on marathon forum for when you get there. Good luck !!!
Please may I have a badge. Just completed 10k in 61 minutes. I have no idea how and my children are very underwhelmed π However I am doing this in my head πΊπΊπΊ
Congratulations on a fantastic achievement!!! I know exactly how you feel - 'underwhelmed' absolutely sums up my family's reaction to my running too. But never mind, we all run together here on HU and we all understand just how much an achievement like this means. We know you're amazing!!!
Hello π please may I have a 60 min graduate badge . Did it today on a lovely winter afternoon . I have to confess I should only have run 55 minutes but it was ( I thought) such a horrid run up to about 50 minutes that I was determined to have at least my ten minutes of βniceβ π. It also turns out it was my best βworst runβ so far π€·πΌββοΈ .
βHappy as Larryβ now Iβm home πππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
Congratulations!!! There's your well earned badge. Isn't it funny how a bad run can be a good thing too? You did a fantastic job of turning that one around, well done!!!
Hi! Yesterday I ran my first 60 mins with 8.38 km and a pace of 7.16 /km, so pleased with myself having completed C25K in late July. This fantastic forum has inspired me to keep running, thanks!
I completed my first 10k today so would love to be able to attach a badge to my username please π.Ps. I might be asking in the wrong place but do you know how I can go about resetting my account password, the forgotten password link just keeps taking me back to the page for entering details π€. No probs if not, I just thought I'd ask
Congratulations on your 10k - a great achievement! There's a shiny new badge!!!I'm sorry, I'm not sure about the password reset, but the technical team at HU should be able to help you. You can contact them via this link support.healthunlocked.com/...
The general issue we had over the weekend with login messages has been fixed so hopefully the forgotten password link is fixed now too (I did message them about it). If not, do message them using that link
Hi Linda, I did another 10K yesterday in 1 hour & 4 minutes. I did apply for a badge but not sure if I have it as I canβt see it after my name?Thank you for checking and wishing you a Happy Christmas! π
ran my first 10k today! really hard christmas away from my family so the run was a real lifeline, best part of my day - cold and sunny and i just went for it, slow and steady. proud of myself
Thank you for this forum and the various helpful pointers/magic plans, etc. It is inspiring to read other runnersβ stories and to witness such a positive and supportive online community.
What a lovely post! Congratulations!!! You most certainly can have your badge. I would lay odds that you will be back soon telling us that you have run 10k, and that it won't be too long before you're running 10k in 60 minutes - a 2021 goal perhaps? You've made phenomenal progress and obviously have a really positive attitude. I reckon you've got this π
Hi Linda, thank you so much for the brand new shiny badge (βοΈ) and for your most encouraging and motivating words. It means a lot. Thanks for looking after us all and keeping us motivated and on task βΊοΈ
So I started on C25k in March (anything to go outside!) and was stuck around the 7k mark all summer and losing motivation. A break from work in October got me back into my 3x a week rhythm following the plan loosely, and I ran 12k mid-November, but very much a one-off for charity. This last week however Iβve finally run not one, but three 10/11k, and it feels like something I just quite like to hop outside to do once or more a week. So it feels right to put my hand up for a badge now thanks!
Next step is to get it in within an hour. Best effort still 5 minutes over.
You've definitely earned that badge! Congratulations!!! If you want to work on peed you might like to try one short fast/hard run (maybe an interval run, a progression run, or hills), one medium length tempo run and then a long slow run of 10/11k. Although it might reduce your weekly overall distance, you will make up for it in the intensity of the shorter run and should find it easier to get that 10k under the hour. Good luck and have fun trying !!!
Thank you! I feared I need to start sprint/interval running to get the speed up. I must admit the three 11k in a row are not my usual pattern - itβs the holidays and itβs my only chance at a bit of me-time away from the full house to clear my head. Your suggestion sounds great, and much more sustainable.
If you don't like the idea of intervals - though they are definitely worth a try - the other approach is to keep extending the long slow run gradually; then the 10k is likely to speed up. Whichever approach you fancy is likely to work best! As you say, making every run a long one will quickly become unsustainable (and maybe a little bit boring too)
Just squeaked into 2020...finished the Magic Plan today...60 minutes. Covered 5.97 km...I know πIf I hadnβt been obsessed with the time, I may have noticed the distance π€£
