Ran my first 10k last week. Great feeling. I can't believe the change in me over the last 6 months. My new years resolution was to complete C25K, but never dreamed I would carry on to do 10k.
Morning fellow runners! - at 0530 I headed out and SMASHED the 10k - it was a lovely, lovely run and a complete surprise. Cool mornings def helped...a couple of recovery and speed runs next I think. I'm thrilled!
Did my 10k on Thursday and delighted I did it but I didnβt enjoy it.
Iβve realised I love running for 5/6k four/five times a week but any longer and I stop enjoying it as my body starts to feel really tired.
I felt sad that I didnβt enjoy it but Iβve realised Iβm not in a competition with anyone except myself and I want to enjoy being outside with the dogs and just running around like they do.
I find running to be exhilarating and all my stress disappears within the first few minutes of running, so I will continue to be a runner but at a pace my body and I enjoy.
I wish everyone luck on their next challenge but Iβll be staying on the 5/6k runs(for nowπ).x
York 10k completed today! Took longer than anticipated but I ran it all and it was very hot. Thank you so much for your 5k - 10k plan that gave me the confidence to go for it xxx
Today I ran for sixty minutes! Oh my goodness it was hard but I did it! I'm going to have a go at doing the magic plan again but running it to distance instead of time. I'm so slow it might take me a while but I'll give it a go!
As written in the weekly post, I have completed 60 minutes and would love to get a badge for that. Of course that means I'll have to try for the "real" thing (10k) in the not-too-distant future!
I completed 10 k yesterday evening and enjoyed most of it. I struggled around 6 to 7 k but settled down and ended up going over a bit and realising I could have carried on for another k. Thankfully I heard the advice of you all and stopped before I exhausted myself or got an injury. I'm completely ache free today thanks to sticking to the plan. Thanks to you all for the motivation and encouragement. What next then I wonder?
I completed a slow 10k in run up to 10k race in september! its amazing feeling and I never knew I could run that long though at the end I couldnt feel my feet Thank you for all the support and encouragement. I love my daily feed here and read it every morning!
Any tips on how to maintain my pace? ( start fast then get my pace then in the end very tired)!!
Yay I did it! I actually ran for 60 minutes! I canβt believe it. Thank you so much Roseabi for running this programme. Never would have done it without it. ππββοΈππββοΈπ
I cannot quite believe it ... but I have just managed my very first 10K (I hope it counts as I rested for c 5 minutes at my turn-round point along my local river towpath). In fact, it was 10.72K as I had to pause a couple of times to check my Strava app which is calibrated in miles and converting to Kms on the hoof is not my forte.
Although I have not contributed on here for a few months, I would never have got to this stage without the invaluable support - together with my local parkrun - where I run about only once or twice a month as I enjoy marshalling too much.
I hope to enter a 10K race either in September or October and would value advice how to consolidate from here on.
Calming down now - but I still have a smile on my face!
Oh - and if you feel I do qualify, may I please have a graduation badge ?
Absolutely you can have a badge - congratulations!!! And well done for signing up for the race πππ
I suggest you plan regular 10K runs into your life. Draw up some new routes and just enjoy exploring. After a few weeks you might try going a little further - this will really help your confidence for race day!
Completed York 10k last Sunday. So hot π₯΅ but got there! Amazing atmosphere πββοΈπββοΈ. Thanks In advance for the badge. Now to get ready for the Scarborough 10k ππ»ππ»πββοΈπββοΈ
Love all the encouragement on here! Keeps me going π x
Hi sorry left a reply somewhere else. Just completely 60 minutes, am in shock didnβt think it was possible. Looking forward to seeing my badge and thank you π
Did the 60 minutes today! Woefully slow, but I didnβt stop once! Iβm going to carry on doing 60 minutes once a week, plus shorter runs for a few weeks, then try the distance plan! π€
π my doggie πΆ walked 10k this morning and I jogged most of it ππ for the first time. Feeling awesome right now! Can I have a badge please for my doggie and me??? πππ. Thank you for all the support
Still lurking and reading and not posting but have now managed 10km twice, today in just an hour. Dog-assisted along the way, we're a good team. πΎπββοΈ
I had no idea a year ago that I would do this. π
Hi roseabi, completed my first 10k this morning before the heat started. Slow, very slow, but achieved! Can I please have my badge? Thank you for all that you do on this forum - you keep me going!
Hello there - I ran my second 10k yesterday! Not sure how Iβve got to this point after beginning C25K last autumn. Anyway, Iβm running the Hyde Park 10k a week on Sunday and feeling nervous about it....
Hi roseabi I ran my first 10K two weeks ago and forgot to ask for my badge π€¦πΌββοΈ Was in training for my first proper 10K race tomorrow!! Canβt believe iβve come this far!!!
Sorry just seeing this now!! I did it!!! Race was sooo hot about 26 degrees. Took on plenty of water and made it to the finish!!! So glad I signed up for it!!! Thank you for my badge!! π
Hi Roseabi, I think I am now entitled for the badge and the word Graduate10 to be next to my username,
For the last few weeks, I have been increasing by 1K a week my running distance to eventually run a 10K in around 75 minutes, last week I ran 8K, this morning I had planned to run 9K, however, the audio on Mapmyrun was playing up a bit, I waited and waited for the 9K split time to come which I would have stopped running, however, it never came, I got the phone out of my pocket and noted that the reading said 9.6K at 68 minutes, so I just decided there and then to continue to 10k. My time was 73.03 which I am quite pleased with, next Wednesday the time I was hoping to run the 10K was 75 minutes, so 73.03 is better than I was expecting, a week earlier than planned.
