Hello! I ran my first 10k within a half marathon last night at Pegwell Bay in Kent π I cannot claim to be a half marathon runner as there was a fair amount of hobbling going on! Iβd love a badge please πππ»ππ½ββοΈ Thank you Roseabi for all your support and encouragement as part of the Ju-Ju plan πͺπΌ
The cooler weather made the run this morning an absolute pleasure. While going slow, and I knew I was slow after a week on hols, I realised that actually I was really very relaxed and significantly more easy in my shuffle... Anyway, having tuned my tracker from pinging me every km to telling me every 15 minutes (which incidentally has made my runs more fun, as I had found I was getting disheartened with my increasing tiredness and slowness at lower and lower km marks over the hot days of summer) I knew at 30 I was going for 60 mins... Iβm nowhere near the 10km, and while I briefly toyed with the idea of just keeping on shuffling, I decided not to push it too much and stopped at 1h5m, so as to round up my distance and not hurt myself
I was in the same place with C25K, in reaching 30 mins but being short of the 5km, so no surprises...
But seriously, back in Feb when I started, those first 60s felt tough... I remember being so pleased when I did W1R3 in making progress. I would NEVER have thought I would be in September, going for a 60 min shuffle... 1 HOUR! So thank you to everyone on here - the collective keeps me trying, and seeing just what I can do... π π₯³
So I posted last month as I had done a 10k run and said I signed up for a half marathon, well I also signed up for the Bawtry forest trail run which was today and was 11k. My first race and finished in 1hr 4:32 which Iβm really happy about. I do t k ow how I see my badges but if I donβt have one can I have one now please?
You have a 10K badge, and I can see 'Graduate10' next to your name on your comment here. If you are using the Health Unlocked app you will not be able to see your badges - log on in a browser instead.
Did 10k on the indoor track at my gym in 84 minutes on 12th September does that count for a badge Roseabi. Also thank Oldfloss who was the first on here when I joined to encourage me to start parkrun at age 64 . Now done my 137th and recently got a PB of 37.39 . I couldn't run for a bus before I joined you.
I did the Worcester 10K on Sunday in 1h 17 minutes! So chuffed. Couldn't run for 30 seconds last year, did C25K with the help of this amazing forum, then gradually built up to 10K over the summer! It wasn't easy but I've done it! ππ€£π
I have now run 5 10k distances, a couple on trails and the rest on the road. The first was by accident having set out to do 7k but got a little lost. The rest have been deliberate. 2 of those (the trail runs) have been with a running group the other 2 have been on the road as solo runs. 2 of my 5 completed this month. My first 10k race is in 12 days time.
I started my couch to 5k journey about this time last year and on Sunday morning I completed my first 10k race! I may be slow (and probably will be for some time) but I'm over the moon with my 1hour 21 min time. Now it's time to focus on my next 10k race in just under 2 weeks - The Great Scottish Run 10k. ππ»ββοΈ
Hello Roseabi, it appears that my graduate 10 badge has disappeared off this forum. May be linked to getting my 10 mile on the marathon forum yesterday. Can I have it back please -?
I finally managed 10k again last week! It took me a while longer because I have strained muscles around my hip, but I have made it three weeks before my 10k βraceβ in October. (I will just be trying to get round, not racing!) Now for a couple of weeks of consolidating. I have been enjoying the longer runs!
Hi I ran my first 10k yesterday in 64 mins 44 secs. I couldnβt run at all 14 months ago and I am loving the challenge. Iβd love a badge to keep me going. I honestly believe that in time I can do a half marathon.....whoβd have thought I would ever be saying that!
May I claim 10K badge, did 60 mins a few weeks back now but wanted to do 10K. My post '1st 10K but not fast' gives some details as does Magic Plan. Thanks.
