I was running this morning and was quite happily plodding along, revelling in the fact that I had not had to use my inhaler for a week now and still managed 3 runs without difficulty, when my watch beeped to tell me “ battery low”. Now this was annoying in itself as I had plugged it in to charge last night beside my bed and had seen the blue light glowing on my two trips to the loo overnight. I don’t know if I had put the little peg attachment on the wrong way round but it obviously hadn’t charged.
So I was coming up to 3k when it beeped so I was hoping I would make it to 5k without it cutting out on me. I carried on, glancing at it every now and then and thought I was going to get away with it. But then knowing I had less than 1k left(I run that route regularly and know the ‘markers’) I glanced at my watch and saw the blank screen. I DID carry on and finish my run but once I’d got home and plugged my watch in and uploaded my run it only shows 3.29k. 😩. I’d been keeping a pretty good pace up to then too and was going to upload it as my (not)Parkrun run. Never mind I am still just really chuffed that I don’t seem to be needing my inhaler any more. 😁😁🎉🎉🏃♀️

Tech failures are even worse than bad runs as you feel you should have control over that! Well done anyway. I did a random run this morning - wasn’t looking forward to it but enjoyed it so much I went on an unplanned route and stopped when I got tired (it was at the start of a hill if I’m honest). Bit of a fail like you though, as when it came through it appears I stopped at 4.99! Oh well, it shows I’ve got the hang of not clock- watching!!
Glad you don't need your inhaler, pity about your watch batteries dying, if you are not sure about your not parkrun time, report your average pace for that run, if that's blank as well, put in the average time for your last previous 5K times.
Argh so frustrating! We are so trained that without proof the run didn't happen 😆, but you know you ran it so good on you. That is great news about not needing the inhaler, too. Now go get that watch charged up for the next run!
Well done Lou, you obviously did 5k whether the Garmin says so or not 😁 . . . I had a "Garmin moment" earlier in the week too; it said I had run 6.7k, I plotted my route on the map and it was 8.5k. A closer look at the Garmin data revealed it didn't start the GPS until 1.8k into my run, thank goodness for old school maps! (plotaroute.com).
Oh what a shame limberlou! But you know you did it and now we do too! And of course there was a time not so long ago that we’d all have been running without any tech at all - those halcyon days of ‘free running’!! Hope the watch charges next time!
Argh! I had an issue with my phone this morning too. Was doing a run/walk session and after a while the walk section just went on and on. Figured there was a problem and restarted. Same issue. I got annoyed and switched off the tracker. I’d done that route before and knew the distance covered but couldn’t measure the time. My annoyance faded when I focused on the run and my podcast.
It’s silly. I’m not really bothered about speed or entering a race but I do still like to think “ oh that seemed faster”and then check when I get home “ oh it WAS too”.
