A bit of a ‘guddle’ but surprisingly good ! 😂😂 A bit of Magic Plan wk4, a bit of NRC pace run & Nov Speed Challenge Run. 🤷🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🥵

So it started off as my short run for Wk4 of the magic plan, then I thought as it’s only 20 mins I should really try the two things I’ve been quietly avoiding 🙄🙄

Speed intervals and hills 😰😰😂

Then I also thought I should do my November 1km speed challenge .

It was a super day for a run and I actually managed to set a workout on the garmin. ( major achievement for me 🥴🥴😂) to cover the times and distances I wanted to do .

It all went well until I was ready to do my 1km speed run , I literally bolted off at a rate of knots and after 2 minutes thought ‘whoa Nellie’ 🐴🐴😂😂 .

No way would that end well , so I stopped ( first time I’ve actually had to stop a run ) regrouped and then went at it again .

Much better , did my 1km in 7.01 not fast in this forum but a PB form, me 🥳🥳 so I was really chuffed and it didn’t lay me flat out so I continued on to do my 20 minutes.

I also did my hill which I discovered was really a mere incline when I looked at the stats so I’ll need to seek out a proper hill 🙄😂

On the way home I decided to do another ‘fast ‘ minute too 👌

So that was 6.05 and the ‘whoa Nellie’ 2 mins was also 6.1 .

I know it was unsustainable for me but it’s my first foray into mixing up my pace to see what I could do and I found it really interesting and fun.

By actually doing it I”m beginning to understand what is meant by your 5k pace , your 10k pace etc. Not fully but I’m beginning to ‘get it ‘ 👍🙄

The November speed challenge will be really useful and I’ll do a proper pace run soon too.

I realise that although I enjoy plodding along and although I think I’ll never be fast that actually there is a lot of fun to be had with these shorter runs and it keeps things fresh .

I think I’m evolving 😂😂🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

Thank you Bf , I seem to teeter between terrified and exhilarated with this running thing 😂😂

Thank you , it was fun 🙂 I certainly didn’t think it would be . Well it’s my best effort anyway , I’m amazed at some of the pace on here . If I go too fast I know I end up not enjoying the run , I run out of puff quickly 😂😂

Well done! The point of the speed challenge is not the initial speed you do, but how much you improve on it week-on-week.

Well here’s hoping 😁

Well done you, that’s a good pace and a starter bench mark. I expect mine to be similar. I did my 8K yesterday and considered doing speed Km then but thought better of it. I’ll fit it in my 4/5K on Friday. Like you say looking forward to mixing things up with the shorter runs, increased effort but not burning out too soon 🤞Happy running 🏃🏽‍♀️

Thanks Catho 😁 8 k ! That’s impressive ! I’m inching towards 6 on the time plan .

It suits me well as my progress on C25k was similar .

Good luck with your progress and the speed challenge too 👍😃🏃🏻‍♀️

Well that was a multi purpose run! I think the speed challenge is fun too and not a competition, only with ourselves. I love the way the forum gives us ideas if we're in a rut. Learning about pace is something I'm understanding now and doing a short faster run is working better than intervals for me.I know what you mean about hills! I live in a flat area so my hills are bridges and slopes mainly, but I'm beginning to deliberately seek them out!

Have a good day.

Yes multi purpose more by accident than by design ! 😂😂Yes so true ! Re the forum .

I have learnt so much or been reassured through reading other members posts. Often trawling back to see their experiences and reflections when they were at the stage I am now . ( yours included 😂🏃🏻‍♀️)

I was certainly getting bogged down with my copious 30 min consolidation runs which I knew were good for me to do but I was getting ‘antsy ‘ watching myself ‘on repeat’.

So I shook myself up a bit by coming over onto B210K , starting the timed plan and now doing the speed run challenge.

Feeling energised and motivated ...... just need to find that ‘proper’ hill 😂🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

It's good to have a bit of a change now and then. I was slogging away at increasingly long runs, so mixing it up is good!

Sorry I'm a bit late but this was such a great post and brilliant photo too! I'm so pleased to hear about the experimenting going on in this run. It's fabulous and shows where your confidence level is at. I only caught the speed post late in the forum and it sounds fun but I might leave it for a bit. And in my book, an incline is an incline haha! They all count! 😂
