So it started off as my short run for Wk4 of the magic plan, then I thought as it’s only 20 mins I should really try the two things I’ve been quietly avoiding 🙄🙄
Speed intervals and hills 😰😰😂
Then I also thought I should do my November 1km speed challenge .
It was a super day for a run and I actually managed to set a workout on the garmin. ( major achievement for me 🥴🥴😂) to cover the times and distances I wanted to do .
It all went well until I was ready to do my 1km speed run , I literally bolted off at a rate of knots and after 2 minutes thought ‘whoa Nellie’ 🐴🐴😂😂 .
No way would that end well , so I stopped ( first time I’ve actually had to stop a run ) regrouped and then went at it again .
Much better , did my 1km in 7.01 not fast in this forum but a PB form, me 🥳🥳 so I was really chuffed and it didn’t lay me flat out so I continued on to do my 20 minutes.
I also did my hill which I discovered was really a mere incline when I looked at the stats so I’ll need to seek out a proper hill 🙄😂
On the way home I decided to do another ‘fast ‘ minute too 👌
So that was 6.05 and the ‘whoa Nellie’ 2 mins was also 6.1 .
I know it was unsustainable for me but it’s my first foray into mixing up my pace to see what I could do and I found it really interesting and fun.
By actually doing it I”m beginning to understand what is meant by your 5k pace , your 10k pace etc. Not fully but I’m beginning to ‘get it ‘ 👍🙄
The November speed challenge will be really useful and I’ll do a proper pace run soon too.
I realise that although I enjoy plodding along and although I think I’ll never be fast that actually there is a lot of fun to be had with these shorter runs and it keeps things fresh .
I think I’m evolving 😂😂🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️
