Took new Garmin for it's 1st run!

Collected my new Garmin Forerunner 35 from Argos yesterday, and took it for my 5k run this morning. First impressions weren't good as I've been used to a, albeit cheap, smartwatch with a bright, colour touchscreen. The Garmin screen reminds me of the old Tamagotchi games from the 90's crossed with a Nokia phone. Buttons on the side to scroll through the selections instead of quickly swiping the screen. I'll stick with it for now, but can see myself upgrading to a more expensive model in the future!

I am sure a ordinary digital watch would have been as good as that watch in the photograph, nevertheless its quite a nice watch for you to run.

Thanks AlMorr, the reason I bought this is because my smartwatch doesn't have built-in GPS and was giving inaccurate dist/time readings! The Garmin is very accurate!

Sorry you’re not keen on your new garmin. I’ve had the same model for over a year now and love all the stats it gives me. I find it holds the charge for a long time, up to a week, and takes a super short time to recharge. It’s really accurate on distance and heart rate, I’ve checked it against HR monitor. Hope you get used to it if not donate to a good friend. Happy running 🤗

It's very accurate and yes very detailed, I'm sure I'll get used to it!

If you haven’t already done so - switch off the move alert, very rude, sit still for too long and it tells you to move 🤣🤣. Many also find by inputting their own maximum HR then you get much more realistic zones

I think the Garmin is all about the GPS.Choosing the right watch is so hard.

I have a Versa 2. It looks reasonable but no on board GPS. I briefly had a Garmin forerunner 235. It was massive on me, and didn't look as expensive as it was, I sent it back.

I think you really have to price up to get one with everything you want/need.

I'd say if you're not happy with it today, you probably won't be tomorrow. Do a factory reset, return it and put the money towards one that ticks all your boxes ✅

Trouble is the one I think I want is much more expensive and with 3 lots of vet bills at £1200 this month ...!

I've had the Forerunner 35 for quite a few year's now...I keep thinking about upgrading to a snazzier one but then I remember that all I want it for realy is the GPS! Though the more expensive ones do have lots of super features and look a whole lot nicer.
