Happy to say that I've made it through Week 1 and although I'm never going to break any land speed records, I've really enjoyed pushing myself a little harder. Managed to break out of my usual Couch 2 5K circuit and discover new routes including running along the Peak Forest Canal for the first time. It's very busy with walkers, cyclists and people fishing and it takes a bit of dextrous foot work on the muddy paths to keep up the social distancing without landing in the drink! I'm hoping this magic plan will help me venture further afield and I will eventually be able to breathe more easily so I can really appreciate the glorious scenery. Those people who live along the canal are so lucky! Thanks for all the continued support from RunaroundSue and the Park Run Tourists.
Week 1 complete!: Happy to say that I've made... - Bridge to 10K
Week 1 complete!
Once I’ve finished this cup of coffee , I’m contemplating starting this plan this morning .
It’s a lovely November morning and I need a plan now after 12 consolidation runs . I have lost a bit of routine though .
Are you doing time or distance ?
You’re run sounded lovely although I like to run very socially distanced 😂😂 and am lucky enough to live in a quiet village 👍
Good luck with the plan ⭐️
Thanks so much RacingintheStreet , I am doing distance as I run on the slower side but once I get started I can usually keep going! I was surprised how busy it was on the canal but lovely that people are getting out and taking exercise in these crazy times!
That’s interesting and helpful 🙂 Thank you ! Woodleygirl
I’m really unsure of which to do 🤔 before I went out ( yay ! And very glad I did ) I was going to do time .
Once I started the run I decided no, think I’ll push myself and try and increase distance steadily.
So I did a 2.5k run.
Once home I’m thinking maybe time 🤔😂😂
I’m no speedy Gonzales , but have a tendency to bolt unless I concentrate realllly hard with pace . Then I have lovely runs 👌🙂
I did the 2.5 too fast ( for me) so worry I might not make the distances unless I get pace under control consistently
My motivation is for distance though 😂😂
I only wish I was able to go too fast. I'm also running the 5k to 10k app to document my progress. During some runs it tells you to do 'tempo' runs where you speed up for a short period then slow down again. When I run, I always feel as if it's the fastest possible that I can go. Perhaps I should try a little harder for a shorter time as it will help me improve my speed. I might surprise myself! xx
Well done, I was just wondering how you were getting on. I can imagine that but if canal getting busy as it is not very wide.
Well done. Beautiful photo too.
Well done on finishing your first week on B10k; your run sounds lovely - the Peak Forest Canal is beautiful, I really love the Bugsworth Basin end!
Looks beautiful! I run a lot on canal towpaths and they're my favourite, especially jumping puddles! Good luck for many more beautiful runs!
It's a great feeling to be pushing yourself a little harder isn't it.
I have just done run 1 of week 2, though I'm doing this week in an odd order as I need a short run midweek due to work, and I felt good at 5km so decided to carry on to 6km( may regret that!).
