On week 2 of bridge to 10K and I’m trying out different run locations. For my short run on Tuesday I tried the running track at my local park, unfortunately it was uneven gravel and some broken bottles to avoid but overall I hated literally running around in circles, after 4 laps I’d done 1K but was not enjoying the run at all. So I decided to change the situation and left the park before starting again running around the streets taking in my surroundings, and I loved it.

All is not lost, I learnt I need variety of sights in my runs and don’t like feeling like a hamster. I also learnt that I will not quit, but there’s no point in continuing a run that is not enjoyable, I therefore pressed reset and started over elsewhere. I love running and look forward to run days, it’s teaching me to be in the moment more.

Happy running

Booom.

This right here! I love it. I share your views here. Experimenting is terrific and as you go...you grow. I wouldn't like a track I don't think either 🙈

I prefer a loop if I can and although I do it all the time, it is interesting and I know on my mind where the mile markers are. I get enveloped in the mindful aspect of running which always helps me. Distance and time don't really bear importance on me although I prefer a minimum run of 5 miles or around an hour so I feel fulfilled enough.

Love how you adapted your run in the moment and this coupled with your tenacity will take you further along your running journey.

Terrific post. 👏👏👏👏👏

Thanks. I’m also trying to get the mindful benefits from running and not on pace so much. Thanks for your support

Well done for changing things rather than soldiering on. I often run over the same routes, but living on the edge of a forest and next to a disused railway line/ now walkway means that every run is different. Sights, people, post run cafes 😋, headspace are all vital part of what we do. Moving from 5k to 10k brings with it the challenge of finding new routes; enjoy it.👍

Thanks. You have lovely locations to run and explore. I normally run a loop around the village but have to factor in some hills. The routes are all different and challenging and have varied distractions. I ran on the seafront yesterday for the first time and loved it, the views, the sunrise, the seagulls, the salty air on my lips (could have been sweat lol) the closed fairground rides, it was so nostalgic (used to visit that beach as a child). I ran my furthest distance and time and was so in the moment, it was great. Then I found the post run cafe (take out as lock down) 🏃🏻🙆 loving the challenge and bring in 7K next time

Great job in persevering! I’m pretty certain I would have just given up and gone home! I too am trying out different routes lately. I live in an urban area with lots of tree-lined streets with minimal traffic, and sidewalks, so that’s where I started running. Meandering sort of aimlessly up one street then turn a corner and head a different way. But lately I’ve wanted a more mindless route where I don’t have to think about anything, about crossing the street and if there’s a car coming or not, if I should keep going straight or turn at the corner...I just want to run! So I’ve been exploring nearby parks that having running trails. I have to drive to get there though. Some are just not that interesting, big expanses of grass, some benches and that’s it! I’m still looking though!

Yeah it’s a challenge finding what works best for you. I normally run from home but if I drive first it opens is more opportunities but takes more logistical planning. Happy hunting 🏃🏽‍♀️
