Decided to try a new route, wanting to extend my distance eventually to 10 Miles. I mapped out an "add on" 5K to my usual local routes, this meant a lot of road work with a lot more traffic, which I normally try to avoid. I wasn't enjoying it at all, but knew I would eventually join a path which I sometimes travelled in the summer. This made an uninspiring boring run into a wonderful autumnal one finishing with doing 6K . I will have to rethink my route for increasing to 10 miles though, even if it means doubling up on some stretches of my usual routes🤗
Uninspired run: Decided to try a new route... - Bridge to 10K
Uninspired run
Top work, John...agree with Damien, those are lovely pictures, must be great running down those sheltered tracks through all that lovely green foliage.
Thanks Andy , Good to see you back, and on the road to recovery. Keep up the good work🤗
Great effort working to 10 miles, it does take a lot of route planning unless you are willing to do loops. Who would know 10miles is so much longer than 10k 🤣🤣. Remember to add an extra bit to your 16k for the full 10 miles. Happy running 🤗
Those photos are beautiful how lucky to run there
Would You believe it is down the side of a power station literally 100metres away!🤣but absolutely beautiful through the seasons
Gorgeous pics... now how to map a route that avoids the boring sections but keeps this stretch? 🧐
Yes, I’m also considering what going up to 10k means for my route and as my current 5k route is simply gorgeous, I’m also considering doubling up. But not ideal.
New run routes( my favourite) . It looks beautiful in the photos. Good luck getting to 10 miles 😊
Thank you
Well done! I found it wasn’t ideal adding bits here and there onto my established routes for shorter runs, but initially it was a necessary part of the process. For my first 10 mile run, I hedged my bets (in case I couldn’t make it!) so much, that I ended up running past my house 4 times. I vowed that the next time would be different. I had a look at plotaroute.com and worked out the perfect 10 mile run. This meant I had to commit to it, which was a bit scary, but once committed I enjoyed the run much more knowing I didn’t have to double up or nip down side streets 😀
I think I can do ten miles , but a lot of it would be on uneven grass banking and uneven ground along the Trent Bank good for ankle strength I know but hard to maintain an even pace even taking it steady, and i have a balance problem! But a long way off me thinks. the furthest I've done is 12k, then I started with sore throats etc., so had about 10 days off, then the 10K vitality event was coming up and didn't want to jeopardise my first bit of bling 😂
