Well what can I say. After a very restless night with my hip playing up I decided this mornings run wasn’t to be ☹️ I had done a 3 mile walk yesterday and when I posted my decision to run my hip was relatively settled although it had been painful on walk. but overnight it wasn’t happy at all😓😓😓so I decided that I need to be more careful and maybe tomorrow I’ll go to the gym for a while and see if my hip is happier after that. ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

But you did not fail, you made the right decision! These things are sent to try us but making the right choice is certainly not a failure.

I'm sure your next run will come when your ready (as will mine !) 👍

Yes I hope so I’m getting a bit worried about my hip so I’m better taking it easy atm I suppose. Good luck with your next run 👍

Thank you 🤞I’ll try a short trot on the treadmill tomorrow and see how it goes.

What is this “failed to run” nonsense? You chose not to run. That’s a really good decision if you weren’t ready for it. Who has set this imaginary deadline of when you should be out running again? I’d like to know so I can have strong words with them. It’s sometimes much harder to be sensible and not push too early but it’s definitely the right thing to do.

Good luck for whenever you decide to run. Hoping that hip is better soon ❤️

Thank you it’s so kind of you. I think the gremlins are teasing 😈 me. I know I just have to wait 🤪

Those pesky gremlins are a nuisance. Send ‘em packing! You’ll get there in the right time. Patience is hard though! ❤️

Yes they’re a nuisance. I’m not a patient person so I’ll have to learn that skill 🤣🤣

I know you must be feeling disappointed and frustrated but you had to make the decision to not run - you have to listen to your body and you did. 👍🏻 As Old Floss says ‘the runs will wait’ take care

Thank you and I know they will but it’s been 5 weeks already and still no improvement. The sports therapist said to just carry on what I could do. But it seems to be getting less rather than more ☹️ I wonder if a physio is the next person to find

Dendev75 profile image

It’s not wise to carry on if you’re in pain though. A physio would be worth a try - you might get an answer and a plan moving forward - good luck 🤞🏻

Your body knows best and is the first to let you know! Like oldfloss says the runs will wait, Sorry to hear about your hip though🙁

Absolutely the right decision. Don't run when injured.

🙏🙏 🤞for next time whenever that might be

Well done on listening to your body! Who knows what might have happened if you had gone for that run? Maybe you have not failed to run, but failed to end up on the injury couch!

Thank you 🙏 I feel I’m already on the injury couch but I suppose it’s better to be safe than sorry.

I’m having hip problems atm. Think it’s bursitis (good old google) but have challenged myself to 50 miles this month and now want to do 52! 8 miles to go x so as silly as this is ibuprofen all the way and will do it and rest in sept x I’m sure excercise isn’t good for you 😂

You definitely did the right thing in putting off your run until your hip feels better. I know it’s disappointing but you really don’t want to make it worse. Please don’t be cross with yourself, you made a sensible decision to put your health first. . I had a bursitis in my hip some time ago and thought I wouldn’t get back to running, but got out there again when it was better, and you will too. Glad you have shared this, a good reminder that we need to take care of our bodies. 😊👍

Thank you so much for your kind and wise words. They’ve said that this might be bursitis but I do have osteoarthritis in this hip too. How long did the bursitis take to clear for you

I sometimes think it is harder making the decision not to run when you have planned to do so. In the week I had planned an early morning run but had an awful sleepless night and felt quite rough in the morning, I decided not to go in the end, obviously the right thing to do but it really bugged me 😬
