Under pressure 🤷‍♀️

Had been planning to do another 10K run. Since my last one in September I seem to have stayed quite happily to around 5Kish (mixing it up with intervals etc) but then realised I hadn’t completed Strava’s October 10K challenge. Oh well, there’s always next month.

But, since then it’s been playing on my mind. No idea why, have done it 3 times before so know I can, and enjoy it too. Given fab forecast, I was determined to go out today and ‘give it a go’ - couldn’t even tell myself I was going to do it.

So up early and set off in the cool fresh morning air, still not convinced, with NRC’s Coach Bennett along to keep me going and determined to put the negative thoughts behind me. Beautiful day, lovely run and, you know, really enjoyed it - even a (slight) PB too 🥳.

Why I’d worked myself up about it and put pressure on myself I’ve no idea 🤷‍♀️

Hi, I was happy enough to go out and embrace the chilly morning with the added bonus of sunshine🌞but even after about 3k my legs still felt heavy and tired(im on my feet all day at work so maybe should have had an extra rest day)Anyway, I struggled on to about 8k😒I think I am worried about losing the fitness I have built up, so beat myself up if I dont manage 10k because I know I can do it!

All I know is that I prefer running in warmer weather😂

Hi. Well done for getting out there 👍. Isn’t it funny how we put ourselves down for no real reason - we’re going out and off that couch so should be proud! Think we need to be kinder to ourselves.

Must admit, I’m a fair feather girl too but am getting to like running on these chillier autumnal mornings 🍂 Now, winter might be a different thing altogether 😂

It does and a bit of kindness to ourselves too. 🤗

Well done you for hanging in and keeping going. It's a very mental activity too which can be altered or affected by everyday life. You've kept consistent though and this is vital. Well done on another 10k. A PB is great too 😁

It’s very easy to talk yourself out of confidence, fantastic effort breaking through those worries and proving to yourself once again you can do that distance. Hold onto that knowledge and self belief for next time. Happy running 🤗
