Vitality 10k gets me 2 medals!

Completed my 10k this morning in glorious autumn weather and got an immediate medal for fastest 10k so it’s an actual and virtual medal day. Very happy with everything except the fact that despite wearing exactly the same socks and shoes I had the beginnings of blisters on both ankles 🤷‍♀️ It meant i did my cool down walk home in my socks so i guess that’s another two firsts! 🤣 Looking at my splits I can confirm I’m a definite plodder (note to self must do more interval training) as the two half’s of my run were almost identical but as you can see I definitely saw the finish line coming!! Good luck to others who are still to do theirs.

Well done. That’s a great achievement!

Thank you so much. Just seen your achievement - that’s a great time! Like you I left school many years ago (1972) and I didn’t rune then. Only started in 2018. Who knew?!

Well done Sybilw, I can’t see much evidence of plodding in those splits. That looks like an excellent run with a PB to boot. I do envy the glorious sunshine though, but I guess it was our turn to get the weather!

Claim your T-shirt and bling and feel extremely proud. 🏃‍♀️👏👏🎖🥳

Thank you. Look like you managed a great time too despite your less than ideal weather. Envious of your social element - good organisation. Well done to your gang.

Maybe see you in London in May?

Is there a real one then? I suppose we can always hope!! 🤞🏻

I hope so, as we have deferred our entry.

🤣🤞🏻I had suggested to my daughter who lives in London we should do one so it’s not out of the question.

No way, you are not a plodder. That was a super effort. Congratulations and very well done.

Thank you. Maybe next time I’ll try to get under 7 min/k like you. I can always hope!

Great run! Plodder? I don’t think so, not with those splits! My word, I’d be happy with those 😀

Well done for completing the vv10,000 and for your PB 👏👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️👍

Thank you but your time was also great as I’ve been running longer than you (started April’18). And you’ve done 10 miles 🙌🏻 respect! I’d say I’ll never do that but of course I said I’d never do 10k 👍🏻

Thanks 😊. I only started running longer distances because I couldn’t get any faster on the shorter ones! Running slower for longer is more my ‘thing’. I’m sure you could run for 10 miles if you wanted to 😀.

You might be right as I’ve stamina but not much speed. Just not sure I’ll go for it! 😆 Just need a route that I’d think achievable. That’s how I managed 10k - found a 5k route that didn’t feel downhill so convinced myself the return route couldn’t be uphill!! It’s not flat but it’s how you perceive it. 🤣 You need a positive mental attitude.

You’re right, you do need a positive attitude. I live in the fens, so no uphill or downhill 😀. Imagine the buzz you’d get running for 10 miles! 😀

I’m in the east too (Hertfordshire) and my definition of a hill is very inclusive!! 🤣 I know what you mean about the buzz but . . . . I’ll never say never though.

Well done Sybilw on your Virtual Vitality 10k and a pb. Congratulations 👏👏👏

Thank you - you were SO close to breaking 60 min. Fantastic. I’m leading the family group so far - but only because my daughters haven’t been out yet!! 🤣

I like those times! Well done indeed 👏👏👏

You did it and there'll be more to come no doubt. A PB for you as well so look back and enjoy your progress.

Thank you. I don’t do a longer run (for me - not you!!) often but I really enjoy them when I bother. Don’t expect to go much further though. 😆

Thank you. It was a glorious morning - just had to avoid the wet leaves - a great start to the day. By the way your time was impressive.

Thank you - a way off your time which is very impressive. I celebrated with a vegan lunch (saw your photo). We’ve an amazing cafe in town - I’m not vegan but love to avoid meat sometimes and it’s one of my husband’s favourite treat (much to my surprise - and his too!). 😆

💚 Vegan lunch at a good cafe afterwards sounds a great way to celebrate! 😀 And thank you. i was impressed about my time too! I did cheat and chose a nice flat run though. Took a risk because i only discovered part if it on a walk two days before, but it turned out to be a good choice. 😊

SybilwGraduate10 in reply to Sonia52

It’s not cheating - it’s strategy!! My run was an out and back with a first 5 that didn’t feel like downhill so I could convince myself that the return route wasn’t uphill! That worked until the last 200 yds!! 🤣

I do a vegan bake for our parkrun if we’ve a reason for cakes. Who needs a reason?! 😆

Cake!! 😍 There is always a good reason...

Thank you so much! I’m of course inspired by you 😊 - your last run was almost 11k! You’ve also reminded me that I need to update my progress on LeJog. 300 miles. - well done. I’ve not updated my miles since 11th. Happy days - who’d have thought 2 years ago we’d be having this conversation now. 😆
