Headaches, stretches and cream teas

Started my weekend this morning with a nice 5k run, which was easily doable, even upping my pace a tiny wee bit.

But after showering, my legs felt stiff, my thighs tight and a headache forced me to have another snooze.

I get these headaches sometimes, after a night or day of intensive working, and I can’t find a way to avoid them. I know they are related to my metabolism somehow (I am hypothyroid/ Hashimotos) and they really bring me down sometimes for the whole day. Annoying, and I have wondered if due to my running 3 times per week I now need to up my thyroid medication to support fuelling my higher metabolism. But don’t know.🤷🏽‍♀️

So any Hashimotos runner’s our there with similar experience?

But I was proud to have done the 5k. I do post-run stretches religiously, but I’m finding that my thigh muscles are getting tighter month by month and I have to use the roller more often. So I also wonder if my post-run stretches are not deep / long / intensive enough.

And in RunLEJOG I’m enjoying the scoffing down of virtual cream tea cakes, that in real life I can’t have! In RunLEJOG land I’m also that super slim and super-fit-5k-in-30min runner, that glides super-easily through life’s challenges ... whilst munching on tea cakes🧁 !

🤣🤣🤣

Happy running (and munching) everyone!

Well done on 5K CBDB that’s a nice run. I’m sorry about the headaches, I can’t imagine what that’s like😕

Maybe you could discuss it with your doctor next time your prescription comes up for review?

Unlike most people, I can eat pretty much whatever I want, but not fresh vegetables, fruit or fibre. That’s due to a long-standing medical condition and I have to eat to keep my weight up!😳 I realise I’m very lucky though as it’s all under control🤞

Good luck with your next runs and look after yourself in the meantime 👍

Thanks for this. Yes, other than the headaches I also feel very much in control of my condition, mentally at least. But I do tend to tweak nutrition as part of my health journey, in order to attempt further improvements and weight loss. But I have come far, specifically with running. So I get the notion of having to keep out certain food groups. Thanks and stay safe and sane!

Cream cakes are over rated 🤣 . I tell myself that anyway.

Great run . Maybe talk to your doctor about whats going on if possible. Well done and good luck 😊😊
