Physio has said I can make a gentle start next week, speaking to Coach Alexa from virtual running club next week to sort out my plan, I have really missed my runs and now have to lose the stone I’ve gained on the IC!

Great news Phdgranny, so pleased to hear you’re healed and able to get going again. Look forward to your seeing your run reports very soon, go nice and easy and most importantly enjoy 😊🤗

Great! 👍👍👍

Have a look at the sort of gradual progression in runs I've been doing to get back into things.

I started with a series of walks, then initial runs with 20s run/40s walk intervals and worked up to the point I could rejoin C25K with a shortened week 4 last week.

You might not need to have such a gentle start, but it might give you a few ideas.

I will build on what you did, I did some coastal walks at the weekend, very hilly and just felt a little achy but no return of the pain in my hip that has been treated so hoping to build in some short runs this week. I have to discipline myself to build up slowly.

Did the physio give you any recommendations on what you should do when you started running again?

He said leave a week after final ultrasound then no more than 1 mile running within a 30 minute session. As I run quite slowly that works out at about running /walking in equal amounts so I think I will start with perhaps 1 minute of each and see how I get on. it’s been 12 weeks of treatment so don’t want to undo the work I’ve also gained a stone so working on that too!!!

Welcome back Phdgranny. Take it slow and steady and I'm sure you'll soon be back to your normal running speed and distance.
