A (not) run of two halves

Unusually, the wind on Southsea prom this morning was a brisk (15 knots according to Mr Garmin) north-easterly so, running the regular parkrun route, we got blown home for once which makes life so much easier! The pace trace pretty much speaks for itself, early enthusiasm being blown away and getting to the turning point becoming increasingly difficult and desirable. Made it in 12'45", and got an immediate boost from the wind which more or less lasted to the finish, so back in 11'48" for a 24'33" entry in the (not) parkrun record. My 3rd best on the road to date, but 71% age grading won't be enough to see off blooming Brett :-(

Major kudos to Coddfish for her second consecutive (not) parkrun PB, and commiserations to Oldgirlruns who wisely swerved today's jaunt with a stiff back, but nonetheless turned up to cheer us in and take the obligatory post-run pre-feed photo outside one of our regular breakfast haunts. As you can see, summer is hanging around quite nicely down here ....

Onwards and upwards!!

Whoop whoop to Coddfish on her PB time this morning . Mine was 10 seconds behind last weeks PB - had I been paying attention maybe I could have beaten that? Although It was bright and sunny, it was only 7c with the wind chill so I started off in my running gloves for the first time today. But with the wind behind me , I was soon mopping my face with my buff.

I thought Mr C had started before me until I met Coddfish who shouted ‘he’s behind you’. I knew he would have been getting closer all the time which forced my pace a little! As it happened I was just over the line first but he was 48 seconds faster. Not that it’s a race!

Hopefully, Oldgirlruns will be back running again next week.

Very wise to make the most of that unusual wind direction UTS - makes all the difference to get that helping hand on the way home. Congratulations to Coddfish - we'll be waiting for the hat trick next week!😜 Also to Dexy5 for holding off Mr C.

I sympathise with Oldgirlruns - had a bad back myself for the last couple of days, but seems to have subsided now, so will be hitting the tarmac tomorrow!😀

Great running by the team this morning and a beautiful blue sky. Can’t believe it’s been a week already since I was there 😳

Nice one UTS! Well done to the PB’ers and the almost PB’ers - the team dun good today! I enjoyed my walk even if it was slightly shorter than planned. I blame you entirely for that - if I hadn’t stopped to listen to the Accrington Stanley piece on Radio 4, I’d have left home earlier!! Hope to be back with you all for the next Motley Crew (not)parkrun!

Blimey my man...you are on fire 💥💥💥

Love this! 👏👏👏👏👏

Awesome run and there’s always a blooming Bret or two at every park run - I like to think they are not part of park run but have just messed up badly by choosing to run their sprints at same time/place 😂😂

Actually I wouldn’t say a word against Brett - he’s a legend who leads different runs at different paces all week, then cracks in a 72%+ age graded run at the weekend to knock me off the top of the leaderboard 🙄😀
