Ach, dammit!

First run today after a 4 week rest with a sore ankle. My best googling has come up with posterior tibial tendinitis but I know, I know, I shouldn’t self-diagnose. And I haven’t really. Was very good with a 4 week rest, I thought, and ankle was pain free so I decided today was the day. Pretty quickly I could feel it wasn’t quite right but I needed the run and I’m happily surprised to find I can still do 30 minutes! Wow, fantastic! But there remains the dodgy ankle. I had a gait analysis last week. I have a minor probation which the guy said shouldn’t be causing me problems with the shoes I have. ASICS if anyone’s interested. I tried on a pair of Brooks and they felt fantastic but did nothing to alter the pronation. So now I’m left feeling a podiatrist is my only option but this seems like such an extravagance for my piddling efforts. Isn’t that the sort of thing marathon runners need?? But I can’t rest any more. I’m about to murder my entire family 😂

Know the feeling I was sentenced to minimum 5 weeks no running when I broke my shoulder blade in August. Best run ever on my return.

If I was prevented from running and needed specialist help, I'd be on the phone ASAP. Good luck! Get it sorted before more lockdown.

That sounds very painful and in fact 5 weeks to me sounds not bad at all with such a severe injury!

And yes of course you’re absolutely right. Sometimes you just need someone else to say it. I’ve left a message with a podiatrist so hopefully no more guessing games and a return to proper fitness soon.

I saw a podiatrist for posterior tibialis last week and I'm definitely not a marathon runner! I imagine an appointment costs less than your shoes did and is almost certainly a worthwhile investment.

Thank you, that looks really useful. I’ll have a proper read through. I’m self diagnosing so it more than likely isn’t that at all. I ran today and feel fine though that may be to do with the ibuprofen I took beforehand. Time will tell. How is your injury now?
