Somehow being sick zapped me of any physical strength, but also my motivation for running! I think also the nasty turn in weather makes me a bit put off last week I managed one run - just 20 minutes to see how I felt.
I've managed two runs so far this week: a 4.5km run on Monday easing back into it; and a little over 5km run today (my half an hour). Somehow it was so difficult! Maybe I hadn't drank enough water but my legs felt like lead. I don't think I could imagine running 10km (or more according to my plan) this weekend! I'll see how I feel and depending I'll either stick to the plan this week; or just make sure I go out 4 times this week and begin the differing sessions next week.
But overall I'm glad I began again

Great will power and strength of mind to overthrow those gremlins a_in_gsr👍
Your body probably needs a bit more time to recover fully but I'm sure you'll be back on top form in no time. The main thing is you're out there back on your feet and every run is getting you closer to your goal 💪🤗
true! I think we underestimate always how long our bodies need. but thanks! I feel a but put back but then again I have no time goal so I guess it doesn't matter
So true, the running bug can make us too impatient! Yes, as long as you keep moving and not pushing your body when you shouldn't, it will happen. Like you say, there's no rush 😃👍
It is good you got back into it. Your legs will feel the benefit of a little time off too. See how you go with the longer run but keep it nice and comfy and getting round should feel manageable. The most important thing is you are back running and as always, this is the most crucial part of everything 😊
ahh thank you! Yes what I really didn't want was just to stop running altogether (what happened to me last year!!) But I'll definitely go slow(er) for this week too.
Welcome back. There's no rush to get there. I think it's better to listen to your body. Take it easy and you'll soon be back up to speed and distance. Happy running!
I know exactly how you feel as I felt the same way. Heavy legs and not much energy. Well done for getting back out there despite the challenge! It's not easy but you will get your energy back!
