A ‘just run’ Run

Despite clocking up my first 100 miles on LEJOG5 and reading about all your wonderful achievements this week I wasn’t really feeling it this weekend, all this wet weather really makes me want to hibernate. 🦔 I find I’ve caught up with all manner of tedious little tasks whilst awaiting some desire to go out to emerge, even sanding down a wardrobe 🤷‍♀️.

This morning I waylaid myself further watching the elite women run the London marathon, awesome 👏, then I needed to eat, but run best on an empty stomach so the ironing got done! I had however put on my running gear so I wouldn’t slink off to the sofa so easily. When it looked like there might be a small gap in the rain clouds I got my shoes on.

I hadn’t decided what to do with this ‘extra’ run day between plans so thought I’d just run and see what I felt like once I got going.

What came out of my free running was a pretty decent (not) Parkrun within a just over 4 mile run.

I’m looking forward to getting stuck into my 3 week build up to my first 10k in the virtual London vitality 10,000 towards the end of the month and great to know that I’ll be running it alongside many of my VRB’s

🤗

Well done for achieving all those household chores and a run 😂. Best of luck with your remaining 3 week build up. Happy running 🤗

in reply toGrannyhugs

Thanks Grannyhugs, there are some good things about rainy days ☔️

I know exactly how you feel! Did the hermit bit yesterday but reckon I need to toughen up for the coming winter running! Brrrrr!

Well done for getting your run done! Am about 70 miles behind on LeJog 5..

in reply toTimotea

Indeed, some folks are so hardy and relish the rain, some folks just want a blanket and a hot chocolate 😋 Enjoy your LEJOG Timotea, we have all year, plenty of time to get lots of miles in next year in the summer months 🤗

Well done on getting your 100 miles postcard jorgeRuns. So your chores are done and you managed your run . Win, win 😊😊

in reply toBuddy34

😆yes hadn’t quite thought of it like that 🤗

100 miles northwards - fabulous! Sounds like you had a good run when you finally got out and procrastinating fairly got those chores done. I must say your avoidance tactics were pretty inventive - sanding a wardrobe???

in reply toFionamags

Thanks, I’m afraid to say the wardrobe was guilt induced as the wonderful Mr. jorge had done more than his fair share of the prep for the decorating and there was only one door left 🤣 Horrid though, with hindsight I think running in the rain would have been better 😩🤣 🤗

Well done with your 100 miles and for getting out there again ,😁👍

Love your jobs list I'd have drawn the line at sanding the wardrobe though. Glad your managed to find a gap in the clouds and your jobs list to get out and have a great run. I did my jobs avoidance by watching the London Marathon 😂 Made me laugh that my 5k time was almost 3 times the mens 5k time 🤣😂

Yep - mine too!

in reply todijep

Yes the wardrobe was pretty dire, I made the mistake of using a no sand chalk paint and the finish was so rubbish Mr J insisted we sand it all down and start again 😩, fortunately I agreed 🤣....

Yup as I was finishing my 5k today and clocking the time I had exactly the same thought, only 3 x as long, but 3x their age, coachless and at least 3000 less sports massages I think we’re all amazing 🏃‍♀️🤸‍♀️🤗

Ironing? Now there's dedication to the cause. 😁

Good luck with your 3 week build up VRB - mine starts tomorrow!

in reply toBirdlady64

I know, got right to the end of my least favourite things to do, apart from go out in the rain 😩

Good luck with yours Birdlady, see you at the start line 🤗

Nice! And it feels so great receiving a postcard! I’m a postcard behind you, but boy was it nice! Well done!!!

in reply toCBDB

Thanks CBDB, lots mor postcards to come, I had somehow thought they’d be real and I’d receive them in the post! Not quite got into this virtual world 🤣🤗

Well, we can only hope the t-shirt and medal is not virtual 😂😂.

Although, I fear I’m too slow (even whilst running 3x a week) to finish in 365 days, so self-made virtual medal and T-shirt it is for me.

in reply toCBDB

🤣 I’m trying to walk more on non run days as I wouldn’t get enough miles just running,..... but yes if all else fails I’m sure we can find some suitable reward of our own 🤗

What a lot you did and ran too, I generally run first and hope there’s energy left, great to get a post card

in reply toSueAppleRun

Me too, except when it’s ☔️ 🤗

Oh yes, when it’s raining ☔️ the rules go out the window

You have just proved that there can sometimes be a useful side to procrastination Mrs Jorge😉. You have successfully ticked some items off your to do list whilst waiting for your mojo to turn up and now have a run under your belt too. A pretty successful weekend I think.

I however have hibernated indoors and baked cakes, so I shall have to get my bahookie into gear tomorrow! 🌷😊

in reply to

Ooo that does sound lovely Delly-dot, I sometimes bake on rainy days, nothing better than a steamy kitchen with the wonderful aromas of baking cakes, are you baking your own birthday cake 🎂 🤔?

🤗

Yes!!! Go you 👏👏👏👏

You will be super ready for your challenge. I'm buzzing for you 😁 good luck and go and claim what's yours!!

Thanks 😀

I went out for a 1.58mile walk in the rain today to earn my 100 mile postcard because it was annoying me sitting at 98.42. The things we do for virtual challenges! I see you're a fair way beyond the 100 mile point already, good going :)

in reply toBlackberrypie

Well done on your 100 Blackberrypie, I fear my motivation is wavering, the shocking weather hasn’t helped you’ll soon catch me up 😀🤗

That’s great Nilsam, glad it’s going well for you and that you enjoyed running in the rain. Something I still have to embrace 🤗

I think you and I are very similar. I, too, find it very difficult to summon up any enthusiasm to run in chilly, damp conditions. I haven't been out for just over a week but have been doing lots of walking with a new puppy! No time to run as he's been keeping me busy. Tomorrow is the day I've decided to get back to it. I'll put my kit on first thing so no excuses!

I haven't got back to running more than 5k yet but running any distance brightens my day.

Good luck with your training!

in reply to59er

Thanks 59er, the sun is just putting in an appearance after days of soggy gloom here yuk 😣...but a new puppy, how delightful, no wonder you haven’t got out recently, look forward to seeing you post a picture 😁 of the little creature.

Getting your kit on first thing is definitely the way to go, if I don’t do this it just doesn’t happen. 😬 Enjoy your run tomorrow 🤗

It has been difficult weather and glad you were determined and ended up doing a great run

Good luck building to that 10k!

in reply toRoxdog

Thanks Roxdog, a good dose determination does help, even after 9 months though I sometimes feel I could fall off the trainers back onto the sofa 😆 🤗
