Joyful easy running even when soaked to the skin, a totally bra-less post 🀭

Today was running day, and on running day we run, well false plural, I ran πŸ‘.

What better way to shake off that nightshift feeling than to get out there and run.

And cue the rain. Proper Welsh rain, funny to think I stayed completely dry whilst doing my C25k adventure, I even cringed at the thought of running in the rain, now oh no bring it to me, one presenter on a Utube channel described running in the rain as badass πŸ€”..... Ok that works but gawd it's actually really really refreshing.......... So I πŸƒ in the 🌧️🌧️🌧️ badass me πŸ˜†.

I remembered today that pacing don't, go off like a rocket just run, so settling into a nice easy pace ( I like this ) not even wanting to glance at the garmin just lil ol me running and appreciating early Autumn, definitely my favourite season, even if some of our overseas runners call it the Fall 🀨....... I'll stick with Autumn βœ….

Today I hadn't even a planned route, for me a critter of habit, unheard of but hey, the towpath, most of my runs sort of start there is starting to lay down a scattering of leaves and the canal waters are littered with the different colours, slowly drifting ( there's quite a strong current to canal section by me, obviously so when it's being constantly fed from the River Dee) .

I was thinking of heading through the tunnel but boat traffic makes it thick with fumes 🀒 and chewing boat fumes isn't nearly as nice as the musky damp smell of a fresh Autumn day.

So leaving the towpath for the lanes was a wise move, it's deserted just me, nature and sheep's lots of πŸπŸ‘πŸπŸ‘πŸπŸ‘.

I love the gates of the large house I pass, thinking I really don't envy the householder having to cut that lawn it's a definite 2 acre garden minimum yikes.

The only part of my easy run I had to have a word with my legs was about 5 klm in, I was on a downhill section and knew I was naturally speeding up ........ Grrrrr slowwwww down Ian... Funny how speeding up is irritating, lesson being learned slower is better πŸ‘πŸŒ.

The back end section was sooo enjoyable today, by now thoroughly soaked ( no overheating even with a light running jacket on) it's down through the local country park alongside the river, and then up ridiculously steep neverending steps to a very wet, and free of people aqueduct...

A totally brilliant run and if it rains so what......

If you haven't started running yet, you're thinking about C25K stop thinking, get yourself those trainers and get running.

You'll never appreciate just what you're missing!!!!!!!!

Keep safe everyone

( But sadly you can't come run across the aqueduct currently my little corner of Wales is locked down again 😬

As you know, I love the rain and being able to run and have a joyful one as you have is always worth savouring. Reading your posts I always get the sense that you never take it for granted and enjoy the run, the mental aspect and your surroundings which I think is wonderful. I commend you 😊

Ahhhh ta muchly GTFC, as I've gotten more into my running, my running has definitely gotten a hold on me also. The one main thing I'm sure there's more than one πŸ™„, stripping away the clutter of headphones and music, that getting in touch becoming involved and as you correctly mentioned..... Enjoying that run. πŸ‘

I loved reading about your badass run, and you’ve almost convinced me that maybe, just maybe running in the rain might be fun πŸ€” Would you believe in 9 months of regular running I have not yet got a soaking. I’ve been avoiding the dewy grasses thinking wet feet mean cold feet and checking out waterproof running jackets online for the day that surely must come soon when I want to run and it’s peeing it down πŸ₯΄ Thanks for your encouragement πŸ€—

jorgeRuns save your money πŸ’° skins waterproof, if anything maybe look at a windproof Jacket but anything seriously waterproof you sweat like a kipper, ok the wet feet hmmmm interesting sensation 🀨 but my main runners my brooks adrenaline seemingly let the water out as fast as they let it in, just leaving squidgy socks, embrace that rain!!

Thanks for the tips, I shall surely give it a try... soon 😬 πŸ₯Ά

My best running purchase I reckon jorgeRuns, a Ronhill running jacket as new off that auction site, I just had to buy the magic led light button for the back, but hey BARGAIN πŸ‘

Thanks for that tip re waterproof stuff.I went last night as it was chucking it down thinking I was doing myself a favour with a waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers, but crikey did I overheat and quickly got cold as I finished. Lesson well learnt!πŸ˜†πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

We managed to sneak in and out of Conwy for a garden visit to the in-laws last weekend, we almost decided to leave it until this coming weekend but thankfully we got it done... while we had a good excuse (dropping supplies to the vulnerable) i wouldn’t want to have to explain myself. Not seen them since February, we can only hope now that all is well for Christmas visits... if not Christmas can be in august for all it really matters!

Great run in the rain, and a very inspiring post.

Your route sounds absolutely delightful, I hope the return of increased restrictions doesn’t affect you continuing to access it.

Love this post. I could almost imagine your route!!πŸ˜†Ive just posted about running in the rain and wind and how invigorating it was last night, which was a complete surprise. My problem was I overlayered, loads of layers and waterproof top and bottoms. I need to get some breathable tops I think.

I live really rural in Lincolnshire and there's no hills where I am, so I'm not getting practice running up or down any hills. I do though as your post says, appreciate how lovely it just to be out and free, no one else around apart from nature and wildlife. Just bliss as far as I'm concerned. πŸ˜†πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

in reply to Hedgehogs123

We have hills aplenty in Welsh wales perhaps too many πŸ™„ I'll pop one in the post πŸ‘

Lovely read and pics, thank you πŸ˜€ We’re currently in Canada for a while so getting used to it being called the Fall and that’s certainly what’s happening to all the leaves 🍁 πŸƒ πŸ‚ beautiful colours though. Really helpful comments about clothing too, altho’ I think we’re going to have to worry more about the cold from what we’ve been told πŸ₯Ά

Hope the restrictions ease soon but glad you can still get out to enjoy the beautiful countryside.

in reply to CazzaW

Thanks CazzaW autumn is definitely, unquestionably my favourite season, the temperature and colours πŸ‘, don't be worrying about the cold it'll be just fine, just don't go slipping or the physio son won't be well pleased πŸ™„
