That's a new one, all of my runs since whenever, even back when I started C25k I've always turned ➡️👉 leaving my 🏠.
So just simply for the heck of it today I didn't ..... 🏞️👀😬. I walked as far as the local primary school and took Mr garmin for a run. The hills are instantly there, no warning, no gentle warm up incline...... 3-2-1 HILL it's no baby cute little fluffy hill nope it's steep and twists, slackens off briefly then it comes at you again, pheweeee I was nearly tempted to jump on to the tractor and trailer that passed me but nooooooo that's not in the running rule book 🚫.
Eventually after a short lifetime the hills are gone and it's into a nice relaxed running rhythm 👍 swapping from zone 3 to 4 and back. The drizzle today though felt definitely icy, and wearing glasses hmmmm it's blurry but probably better than blinking away cold 🥶 blowy rain..
The national trust castle once again is shut, gates locked so the lanes are empty and silent, just the rasping engines of the chainsaws at work in the estate park. My run takes me to the ornate (pretty gates) the old entrance to the castle, and then I'm heading towards the Chirk aqueduct and a towpath section I've actually not ran on 🙂. It's a weird waterery thought, but I'm running alongside the Llangollen Canal, below me the River Dee, which actually feeds the canal network......Quick 📸 for you lot 🙂 it's a short stint of canal, before leaving the path as to go further would take me out of county 👎 so I loop back via the road and a gentle hill..... I may have just dipped my toes into english territory whoops sorry. Back across the border. Through a damp very empty Chirk and heading home, but I'm too far from home as 10k is nearly done, so feeling good push on 15's a nice distance and I've planned in advance (a small pot of raisins for fuel..... Compact, tasty full of energy good idea me💡).
After navigating safely a few road crossings, I'm almost back on the safety of my towpaths and a loop over and around the Pontcysyllte aqueduct should just about see my distance done.. and phew empty aqueduct a lovely run across, in the breezy rain....... A short steady run sees number 15 come up and I'm in as very hot long shower ( after stretches and a 🍌)
A nice Tuesday after turning left run
Keep safe wear those masks enjoy your runs people 👍
Shsssssssss you two it was 200 yrds of illegal Running 🚫.
But even if a snippet of it was I thoroughly enjoyed it W&S but in no way can condone breaking lockdown rules!👍 We've gotta do our bit and beat this pandemic
Great write-up of your fabulous 15K run, including the hills! 👏👏👏
I do the same as you - stretches, banana and shower, although if I’ve been on a long run I soak in the bath instead. That feeling of getting into a nice, hot bath after a run. Priceless 👍
Before my achilles issues I was really enjoying running up hills... think it'll be a while until I'm running up them again!!
Calf strengthening still happening.. no running yet, although I have been told I can run but I spend so much time on my feet every day that it feels I've worn my achilles / calf out by the end of the day. Currently contemplating a c25k wk 1 type run on Saturday morning.. just feel like my head needs a run!!
I always turn right when I leave my house as well but last week I went straight. In the end I'm running the same area, just in a different direction. I wish I had such beauty as close to home as you do. It looks so pretty!
It was a tad hilly early on ( I've cycled up it and been along there in the car) I didn't realize how steep it was until running 🤦. But saying that I did enjoy it definitely a nice run Cantstopmenow 🙂.. Didn't get quite so far as the Lion Quay's because of lockdown rules I turned back just before the poachers pocket pub, so no coffee stop yesterday. Good job probably not best to turn up drippy wet and red faced 🤭.
Thanks Blackberrypie, thoroughly enjoyed it yesterday, I was glad to see the towpath empty across the aqueduct, the weather helped I guess 🌧️👍 I had route B ready just in case 🙂
This made me smile 😊 as I posted about being an anti-clockwise runner a few months ago and got some very amusing replies too! I have tried to mix things up a bit since but I still predominately head to the left. Someone asked if I had done track running when I was younger, which I had, as that goes anti-clockwise and possibly the reason I do too 😄. Happy running Imc 😊

Cheers Delly-dot, that makes so much sense, who'd have thought that track running would have that effect, the magic of running 🧙♂️
Thanks CazzaW, we all do our different runs and distances, we all go at different speeds but the one thing that brings is together on HU is we all just love our runs 👍
We’re creatures of habit aren’t we, always going the same way?! Sounds as if going left instead of right was exactly what you needed Imc50, I suspect you may well do it again before too long!
Definitely so Oldgirlruns, it's soooooo easy just to go with what you know, but that mixing it up, what a bonus, keeps the running interesting, gives the legs a newfound bounce it's all good 👍
