There’s always a way through, .....even if at first you can’t see it....storms will pass

After 2 days huddled up in my armchair hiding from the lashing rains and fierce storms I decided to go see what was left standing. I hadn’t run far before it looked like my way was blocked but in fact by the track edge there was a very easy way to pass. Lesson here I thought.

Having been determinedly slow running for most of the month with MAF training I decided it was time to up the tempo a bit. Also after yesterday’s conversations with dijep Beatlesforever Juliet202 about heart rate zones and maximum heart rates I decided to run the hills again in an attempt to find out my true MHR. I got up to163bpm, this was nowhere near my maximum but it was hard enough for today 😉. I felt strong and enjoyed the hard work after all my easy runs.

When I had returned and stretched out, very much inspired by the amazing planner that is CBDB I began making a new plan for October.

Autumn has arrived with a bang and a time of transition needs a new plan....coming soon 🤗

That’s the plan D-d, 😁 I hope your back is healing and you’re keeping your spirits up. I see we’re still on the same LEJOG page, on the Oakehampton bypass, I haven’t been to Dartmoor for over 50 years so its been great to jog past and down memory lane . I think this challenge will improve my Geography if nothing else 😉

My back is feeling so much better today. Gentle dog walks have helped keep me moving and I enjoyed a lovely long dog walk this afternoon, but left the rucksack carrying and dog lead holding to my husband. No side effects so far, so I shall try a gentle yoga tomorrow and perhaps a run on Tuesday. Hopefully that will get me back on track and I can get back to logging some running miles on LEJOG again. 😊

Ohhh yes, nice! And thanks for the tag! New plan, exciting!

I have found a new copy of the book “Running” by Jeff Galloway and was surprised how much an advocate for run-walking he is. I’m now wondering how to integrate that into my plan!

There seems to be a great consensus between Galloway, MAF And Jap Slow running, which is really great to read for me, an ultra slow runner.

(Strange though, that Jeff G does not support stretching)

Thanks CBDB, intriguing, I’m sure your plan has no more room 😉...I shall have to add Jeff G to my reading list 😃

Jeff Galloway is my Garmin coach! There's lot's of jeffing in the plan!!!

I was wondering what folks meant by Jeffing, 🤣 🤗

This week as part of my recovery from injury I've been doing "Jeffing" walk/run intervals. My watch decided to ratchet up my vO2Max because of this morning's effort. There's definitely something in it.

Yeah, I might add a bit of jeffjng into my long runs, as they do exhaust me for the rest of the day! I wouldn’t miss them for the world, but my 5k this morning meant that after stretches and showers I took another 2 hour nap!

Sounds like a good run and rather a dramatic photo 😊. I've decided to use use my MHR from a run I did that was 80% in zone 5 and see how that works.

Didn't manage to get out today as I'm still trying to finish decorating 🙁

in reply to dijep

After your help I reset my MHR to 173 which gave me over 60% in Zone 4 which seems more accurate to amount of effort. I have yet to start the decorating 😬🤗

That's quite a dramatic photo! Interesting metaphor too...

Sounds fab jorgeRuns, and a wonderful run after the storms 💪👍 I'm a bit plan-less at the moment, I'm about to finish the timed magic plan and I want to build up to 10k but not sure quite how to do it yet... I wish I was better at planning 😂

in reply to Beatlesforever

I’m in the same place. just finishing the time plan, I like a plan but don’t stick to it 🤣 I’ve been running for longer on quite a few of the runs. I’ve run a 7.7 and an 8k so far so I’m going to do the last 3 weeks ish of the distance plan but do an 8k , 9k and 10k for my long runs, 🤗

Cool, I might do something similar, stick to two shorter runs and then increase the long run slowly until I get to 10k... 🤯😀
