Long post alert😔

Hi lovely VRB's 😉. I hope everything all well in the running world?? I have written off September as I haven't run at all😳. Mainly because of a niggling knee injury and after seeing a physio I was left in greater pain than before I went. However, I persevered with the strengthening exercises through gritted teeth. Then last week the wheel totally came off and my mum passed away. As you can imagine I'm in a surreal state of limbo and could only just function never mind run. This morning I spent time catching up on some of the posts I'd missed on here and came across one from Hidden about how much he enjoyed running and it really inspired me. I put on my shoes and I ran. I ran to test my knee, I ran to see if I still could but mostly I ran to clear my head. Back home now after a very slow 2k but feeling much better spiritually and more confident because I did it and felt good. I need to get back to this. I need to make the time and effort as it does really help in all ways. Thank you for reading this. I didn't post this for sympathy but for those who are struggling with what life has given them at this moment. Running is a good therapy and it's relatively free. Happy Sunday and happy running🥰

Afternoon Allbarron, sending you a big virtual hug, so glad your run today helped you to feel better at such a sad time. Hopefully your knee will hold up now and running can again be a friend to you. Take good care 🤗💐

Physios do seem to leave you feeling worse afterwards, don't they? Good news on doing 2km.

September has been a write-off for me too. I'm following my physio's recommendation and doing very short intervals (less than a minute) and gradually working up.

Good luck. It's hard coming back from an injury but it's best to take on the advice 🤞

❤❤❤❤❤

Thinking of you very much at this time. So sorry to hear of your loss. Well done you for having the strength of character to write this and also to run. I do think it's in those difficult times when running can give us something few things can. This 2k is as important as any run. You deserve time for you, time out there away in your own world...time to run x

Thanks GTFC it's easy to forget why we started running when tiredness and life get in the way. This morning was lovely I had time to put mind in order, think things through and get back to me. I'll be back out there after a rest day 🙂

Love this. Keep going 😊

I'm so sorry to hear your news - what a rotten month this has been for you. But I'm glad you got out for a run and that it helped clear your head. Sounds like a good idea to take it gently for now and let your body steer you.

Sending great big hugs your way. Xx 🤗

Thank you Fionamags. Mum developed dementia a hear ago this month so all in all I'm getting to dislike September. Easy runs for a few weeks I think pressure off.

So sorry for your loss Allbarron - what a difficult time for you.

Well done for lacing up your running shoes though and I'm so glad it helped in some small way.

There is a saying I always think of at times like this:

"You never know how strong you are - until being strong is your only choice"

Take care. x

I’m so sorry to hear about your mother Allbarron - a virtual hug comes your way. But I’m glad you felt able to lace up those trainers again and that a short run helped clear your head - sometimes that’s all that’s needed to get things in perspective again. 🥰

Oh well done for getting back to running! I found even in these challenging times (and it sounds you had some rough months). running has been the best ‘happiness’/‘wellness’ remedy I have ever had!

So hope it works for you as well! And so well done for getting back to running!

Thank you CBDB I know I'm not alone in my struggles. Everyone dealing with something in one way or another. You're spot on about the "remedy"👍
