Yes, you read that right - I'm celebrating my slowest ever 5k today. Its the first 5k after injury so I'm taking it slow and steady and I'm very glad I can do this.
It was a lovely run - a bit drizzly now and then but a perfect temperature. At one point I thought I'd test the "conversational pace" thing. So after a quick check behind me to make sure the coast was clear.... "Testing, testing. Testing the conversational pace. " Then a bit of a mad giggle. If anyone had heard me they would have thought I was completely bonkers.
Then on the final 5 mins it went full on GTFC - driving rain and headwind. I did not skip and dance in the puddles. Was glad to get back to the car. But very pleased to do that 5k with no problems!

Brilliant that you are back out for 5k post injury. I too have done the “conversation “ gave myself a running commentary on what I was passing 🤣. Here’s to many more post injury 5ks and beyond. Happy running 🤗
On my really slow consolidation run I sang along to a few lines from "Reviewing the Situation" from the musical "Oliver!" that was playing on the radio. I surprised myself by being able to sing (quietly) to such a slow song. I think that's one stage better than being able to talk clearly.
Great news Fionamags! Glad you loved it and moments of madness are allowed! Nothing like an enjoyable PW! So glad you're back on form and with no niggles!
I was wondering how you were getting on, great to read about your super slow 5k. I've done the talking to myself thing as well... it's very funny 😅 hope you've still got the post run glow and smugness, enjoy it 😊
That's great no problems. 5 k is a good distance. Remember when we dreamt of running 5k and never really believed it would happen 🤪 it really doesn't.matter stats wise. You're back and that's something to celebrate 🎉🎉
Your PW is absolutely worth celebrating too. Very jealous of your conditions as mine were very sunny and warm today. A really positive run on your comeback though so brilliant news 🥇
What do you wear though? I was only in heavy rain at the end of my run so I was well warmed up. But I started to feel cold so I'm glad it didn't start earlier.
Congratulations Fionamags on getting back to running after your injury, you are correct on taking that run slow and steady although a personal worst PW could be at PB personal best for other runners, you don't say what your time was, just as well, keep that a secret.
So pleased for you getting a 5k run in post injury 😊. You talking about testing your conversational pace reminded me of doing C25k when I would test it out by singing bits of Nellie the Elephant 🐘... 😊
Same here! I ran my slowest ever 5k this morning as returning from injury too. But 5k is 5k and really pleased to have made it back up to that distance. Also means have something I can now beat next time 🤣
Ha ha ha I do like your thinking Runcat! My time will remain a closely guarded secret - but let me just say that beating that time will be a doddle. 🤣🤣🤣
