long run was not so long!

was so excited to do my long run of 8/8.5km today but it was not to be. About 5km in cramps really hit me; and whilst I could run with them they zapped all my energy away - my legs felt like boulders!! I was running with a friend and at one point we walked; but aside from this it was all running. Tbh I was very happy to reach my street- I felt so tired!!

I managed 7.5km in 45 minutes; which I'm pleased with time wise, but this long run was shorter than last week! I could have pushed myself but in all honesty that wouldn't have been a good idea, my body definitely was telling me I was done for the day!! I think its also been a very stressful leek generally, which I think does have an impact on your body.

I'll pick up with my shortest run of the week next, and try again next week for the 8.5km :)

A run is still a run. 👍

true!!

You'll get there so please don't worry. Were you hydrated enough throughout the day and had enough carbs before? You can also go much slower if needed.

ahh thanks! hmm I'd eaten lots of pasta just some hours earlier so that was all good (maybe i'd eaten too much!); but I think I always need to drink more! I think it was a combination of going too fast (more of a 5k pace for me, not my long run pace); plus already feeling tired.

You're doing so well, you really are. You really will do whatever you want to do with running. Just maybe give yourself the best chance. Hydrate well each and every day and definitely slow for longer runs. The benefits are so immense!!

Not to worry. It's always better to listen to your body. It was still a good run.

I'm sure you'll hit your target next time.
