I was talking to my son (about a month ago) about going for a walk in some woods, very nearby (that I didn’t even know about😊). It was one of those scorching hot days and by the time we were both ready to go, the intensity of the heat was just too much. So, I chickened out! 🐓 We would have been roasted. Woods or no woods!....🍗🔚.
Today was a new day!! 🙌🏽 And the woods were calling me 🌳 🌲🗣. I had that “If you go down to the woods today...” song playing in my head all day yesterday. 🎧 🎶 I know.... 🤪! Then WillowandSola posted about their run in the woods 🌲 🌳 ! 😲 I loved it! 🥰...I told myself...🤔 it must be a sign! So... I set out my running gear last night, as my next run was now definitely going to be in the woods! 🌲🌳😁
Up and out by 8 and off we go ⏰ !! Sgt Garmin and Jeff we’re meeting me at the woods! Jeff told me the plan, run/walk/run! Any strategy I choose. I like him...a lot! 🤩🥰
Sgt Garmin was ready to go! So I pressed start and set off (or at least I thought I did) 🥴! I was running merrily along for the 10 minute warm up. The next stage was 2.5 miles and then there was a 10 mins cool down at the end. I was running for quite some time and then decided I should probably have felt a buzz by now for the 2.5 miles bit! No buzz 🤔, because I hadn’t press start🤭! I’d just pressed to start the workout from the menu🤫! For some reason, I wasn’t that bothered though. I was enjoying the grass, the trees 🌲 🌳, the stillness of everything. I was admiring the way the woods were still here, silently beautiful, carrying on, despite the fact that the rest of the world was hustling and bustling everywhere 🤓. Just peaceful and glowing and self assured. It was absolutely magic!! 🧚🏽♀️🤩. I said many ‘thank you’s’, just for being there to remind me that in the end, life goes on and it’s a lot less fussy than we tend to think 💭😁.
I ended up doing a 7k recorded run but my total steps up until that point was equivalent to 10k! So, whilst I cannot claim a 10k today and I would have taken some steps to dressed and get in the car to get there, it would have been pretty close. And I’m so enormously happy about that! 😁😁😁😁 It’s my longest run in over a year I think. That run was so unexpected, but oh...so magical!! 🧚🏽♀️ Even Sgt Garmin gave me a couple of rewards today! He loves me really! 😘😝! And although Jeff told me ‘Jeffing was fine’, I was perfectly happy to run/run/run!! And so that’s exactly what I did. I was running for over an hour! 😮 and that was phenomenal!! 😁😁 What a feeling!😉😃

Ooh those woods look inviting! Lovely paths and quiet I imagine. I always think the effect of being in woodland lasts a long while afterwards - coupled with the good endorphins from your run (which was an amazing distance & time btw 👏), you will be bouncing into next week! 🌳🌲😍

Love the pictures so much! Yes, running though the woods! It’s the running equivalent to that Guinness advert with white stallions galloping through the shallow sea waters! 🌊 🐎 🍺

Ah thanks so much CBDB! 🤗 Yes... it certainly felt like that! 😂I’ve been running in the Forest and the big parks are glorious too, but this one is so close by, I can walk/run there too. No driving necessary to get there 👌🏽. Such a find! 😁😁❤️
Gosh...running your longest in over a year...on your feet for an hour...out enjoying nature...wow, what a beautiful and whimsical run 👏👏👏👏👏 This is the very best thing about running. We can go wherever, whenever and however...we just have to go 💡

Thanks so much GTFC! 🤗 I definitely lost track of time from the very beginning, so I had no way of knowing exactly how far I had already ran. With nothing to go off, I just shrugged it off and pressed start 😂...and decided that I was just going to enjoy being there! Worked a treat! 🤩👌🏽❤️
Ah thanks so much BTP! 🤗 I don't think it would have quite reached the 10k if I had recorded all of the run ☺️. I didn't discover the totals until afterwards, but it would have been close. I would definitely have run on just a bit more to get there! 😉 But it was a wonderful surprise!
I’m using my total daily miles, which includes steps to get to John O Groats in LEJOG4! It’s allowed 🙌🏽, so today’s run will be a big boost on the virtual journey! 😁❤️
