A gentle plod

Went out for a little run today to see how things were post injury. The glutes were still slightly twingey to start but loosened up as I ran. The knees were behaving fine though! I only did a 20 minute run as a tester as I didn't want to push my luck. The glute (it's actually just one...) made itself felt again during the cool down walk so I think gently does it is the name of the game at the moment.

Foam roller arrives today so I'll finally be able to crack on with the exercises. It turns out almost all of the programme recommended by the physio uses it.

Happy running all - do a nice long one for me!

Well done. I have a little pull on my right hamstring. I have done some stretching and used the foam roller since Saturday. I went out for a good 45 minute 5K walk yesterday evening and all was good. So I’m going to go out and do a 5K Steady run this evening. Foam roller is great.

Good to hear that you got on well with the foam roller. I need to get disciplined about using it!

This is really encouraging and it sounds like you played this right! Gentle allows you another run soon hopefully. Hope you enjoy the foam roller. It really becomes part of the routine 😊

Nice to read that you got a run in... hopefully the glute is settling again now. Enjoy the wonderful self torture when the foam roller comes!!

Glad you managed a short run. Hopefully the foam roller will help. I think it will be a while before I do a long run for you x

Glad you managed to get out even if it was just a gentle jog. That's the best way I'd imagine despite it being frustrating. I've seen a lot about foam rollers, they seem to be a number one runners accessory 😊I just keep imagining decorating paint rollers 🤣😂

Oh that's a little bit of encouraging news at the end of a long day. Glad you are listening to your body. You're absolutely right to take it gently. As for the foam roller, they're great I used mine on my calves in the early days. Take it easy Fionamags. 😉

It's a real breakthrough to do that first experimental run after injury! 20 minutes is perfect to test everything out. You must be really pleased!

I am sure the glute will get stronger. If it helps, I found that the injury niggles a bit in those early comeback runs, but despite me upping my distances, it just got better and better as I intensified my exercises at the same time.

I joke now about my glute muscles, have had lazy muscles for too long!

Great news!
