Just over month since I graduated 5k and this morning I ran my first ever 10km. Took 1hr 6 mins and was one of those lovely relaxed runs that sort of happen by accident! Lovely start to September!
Very well done and many Congratulations to you on your graduation. Just so as to give you your correct badge can I confirm that you have graduated from C25K or 10K?
Hi Sandra. Massive congratulations, that's a fabulous achievement. Unfortunately this post is for 10k and 60minute graduates so I can't award you your hard earned C25K Graduate badge here. Here is a link to the August Graduate post in the C25K forum healthunlocked.com/couchto5... The September one should be posted at some point today if you prefer to wait for that post, but if you want it right now (and I would!!!) just leave a comment on the August post π. Once again, congratulations!!!
Hello, I had an unintentional long run this morning. It was supposed to be a slow 5k, however I felt so comfortable that I continued thinking that I could reach 60 minutes. When I checked strava I was just short of the 10k so I carried on. I completed the 10k in 1hr and 07mins.
I have unintentionally achieved both targets today so could I please claim my 10k badge?
You certainly can. Wow! What a great run that was! Congratulations on your first 60 minute run AND your first 10k. Hopefully the first of many more. Happy running!
Hello, Iβve just finished this great programme with a 10km run in 88mins. Iβve really enjoyed the bridge and itβs really helped me push my duration. I followed the duration plan. Thanks for the support here too πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Fabulous! Congratulations on your 10k - have a nice new badge. That's a long way and a long time on your feet- remember when 60 seconds seemed like a lifetime? A massive achievement, rest well now and then here's to many more happy runs!
Thanks for the words, and the badge! Yeah on April 4th 2020, the first 60 second run felt so tough I couldnβt imagine being where I am now. And more importantly enjoying what Iβm doing. Thanks again ππ»
Morning, I graduated from C25K on 29th May. Yesterday I completed the magic 10K plan and ran 11km in 1hour 15mins. I have loved everything about this programme, itβs been a real life changing experience. It has helped me both physically and more importantly mentally through one of the toughest times I have had to face recently. My mother died at the end of July and for the 10weeks she was in hospital, no one could visit because of Covid 19. She died alone with none of her family there. I have been so stressed and distraught but running has given me a release and a sense of calm. It is definitely keeping the βblack dog of depressionβ at bay.
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear what a difficult time you've had, that sounds truly awful. Your running achievement would be amazing at the best of times, but under the current circumstances it is nothing short of astounding. Massive congratulations to you. I hope running continues to help you find mental support for many years to come. Wear your new badge with pride. Take care.
Good morning. Canβt quite believe it but have completed my first ever 10K run this morning in 1hr 17mins! A nice shiny badge would be lovely please πββοΈπ.
It certainly was a good morning! Congratulations on your first 10k run. It's a great distance, hopefully the first of many. That shiny new badge suits you!
It feels pretty surreal already asking for my 10k badge as I only graduated from 5k 5 days ago, but I ran 10k in 58:22 this morning so please can I have my new badge? Thank you π
Congratulations on running 10k and here is your new badge to wear with pride. However, I do have to mention that this may not have been your wisest running decision! To jump from 5k to 10k in 5 days is ill advised, and really tempting injury (especially given the calf issues you experienced so recently during C25K). Hopefully there is no harm done - stretch carefully and well, give your legs time to fully recover and please take time to properly consolidate and remain injury free π
Thank you π And I know I should have done it through the bridge to 10k, but I was listening to my body and it wanted to keep going. Iβm going to have a break over the weekend and go back to my consolidation runs moving forward. Thank you for the advise/concern though
I get that, donβt worry! Hopefully my calves will be fine anyway, but I knew there is a risk. Like I said though, my body felt good so I went with it. Fingers crossed it will be alright and I can keep practicing my 5kβs π¬
Haha! They certainly do!!! Cherish it and wear it with pride π. Massive congratulations on your 10k, a great achievement. Hopefully the first of many more.
Fantastic! the longer you take the longer you know you can run for so I'd say that deserves double kudos! Congratulations on 10K - it's an awesome achievement and warrants a shiny new badge! Well done.
a bit a long story, wasn't able to run 2 years ago, reading the forum, checking advices, not following exactly any plans, just common sense, I'm not able to run 34 km (wasn't expected, just was feeling good after 20km so added another road).
I guess I already got the 5k badge, looking for the 10k one, but maybe there is something more appropriate
No worries - a 10k badge is coming your way now!!! It will only show in this forum.
Those are fantastic distances you have run, well done. There is another forum 'Marathon & Race Support' which has more badges - 10 miles (16k), HM(21k), Metric Marathon (26k) ... There is a similar badge request post there and it sounds like you could well claim one of those too.
Hi, I completed the C25K this morning, managed 4.86K in the 30 minutes, then increased my pace to cover the remaining distance to 5K. Two milestones (or should that be kilometrestones) achieved. I would love a badge to wear with pride.
Fabulous! Huge congratulations on both milestones. There is a badge waiting for you, but unfortunately not here as this is the post is for badges for 60 minutes or 10k. If you post the same comment on the C25K badges post: healthunlocked.com/couchto5... , you will soon have your badge. Congratulations once again
Hello Linda, I completed my first 10 k on the 9th Sept and my second on the 18th just to prove it wasnβt a fluke. My thanks to admin on this site for creating an inspiring and supportive community.
Hi Linda9389. This morning I managed to run for 62 mins. I was just a smidgen off 7k so not speedy but ready to move across to the distance magic plan now.
There you go! that's a long time to run, great achievement - especially when you think back to the 60 second intervals in W1R1! Congratulations!!! Enjoy your journey through the distance plan, have fun!
Congratulations! You can only wear one badge I'm afraid. Normally we would give 10k as that usually takes longer than 60 minutes, so seems the bigger achievement! In your case though, I reckon 10k in under 60 minutes is a massive achievement and am still inclined to give you the 10k badge!!! If you prefer a 60 minute one let us know π
Oh I know, it's hard to believe. My other half was reminding me of that just this morning! It's amazing how far I (we) have come πββοΈπββοΈ
I had a really mad run in really wild and windy weather this morning and cracked the 60 minute barrier π. Pleased can I have a badge please π I had a go at running to HR Zones and found it so much easier.
Just wondered if you could point me in the right direction for more information on training like this.
Congratulations on a great achievement! This has been a wild, wild day - I'm sure it must've been a very memorable run!!! Many people on this forum and on the Marathon and Race Support forum are fans of low HR training. Why not write a post asking anyone has tried it to share their experiences - how they got on, what plans or guides they followed if any, what benefits they have seen etc. I think you will get quite a good response and more info than if I point you to an article or two. Good luck though, and here's to many more happy long runs.
That's odd. You're the second person that happened to - once I thought I must have made a mistake, twice is either careless or something strange afoot. So sorry, I can see your badge now so hopefully it will remain where it belongs!
Hi, after completing the C25k back in March I found going beyond the 5k rather difficult! I started to meet up with a local running group as was losing motivation and this definitely helped. Went out for a run after work on Wednesday determined I was going to get to at least 6k, got to 6k and then it started to rain rather heavily but it was sooo refreshing so I kept running, got to 8.5k and felt rather good so continued and was shocked and rather pleased when I completed 10k!! Not particularly fast but I far surpassed my expectations of what I thought I was capable off so pretty pleased with myself. Onwards and upwards. Please could I have a shiny new badge?
Wow! You ran for such aong time AND you ran 10k, double kudos to you!!! Bet that never entered your head when you set out on w1r1 of C25K. Massive congratulations, you earned a shiny new badge.
After miscalculating the distance and stopping too soon (50 pitiful meters... yeah) last week, I finally completed my 10K --with a bunch of PBs included-- yesterday. Next stop, Half-marathon, coming soon.
Thanks, Linda. You have no idea how that mistake crushed me! Specially because I was killing it for most of the run! I was even tempted to include a part of my initial/cool-down walk, just to make the distance and ask for the batch, but decided that my rules are my rules, and flipped the dissapointment into motivation for training.
I may be going after that 10 Mi batch in two weeks from now! Thanks.
Thanks! I am trying to find the best of two worlds between the training plan I'm following and the advise y'all gave me at my post on the marathon & race support forum a couple of weeks ago. The longest run of my training plan (90 mins) is scheluled for two weeks from now. At my current pace, I should be at 8.8 Mi by the end of the session. I figured that perhaps adding 20 min (at recovery pace) to complete the 10 Mi milestone should not be a big deal, and may also be a good test to determine if going for the half-marathon distance two weeks from then is feaseable or not. Either way, I'll keep you all posted in the other forum! Thanks again.
Hello, Completed my first 10k yesterday. I started the C25K at the start of june and really didn't think i was capable of getting this far. Can I have a badge please
Ahh but this reply was for Fatbob1974 who just ran a first 10k today - your reply is just below this ... below your badge request π . But I will just say .... remember when 60 minutes sounded scary? or 60 seconds even? these things gradually creep up on us ... or rather we creep up on them π
