Has anyone else got this problem ? I have been running for 16 months so thought it was time to increase my distance. All going well until I get to between 6/7 miles then on my right foot My 4th and 5th toes start to go numb and then I get pain in the ball of my foot in the same area so have to stop to move my foot around and get the circulation going. I’ve tried running in my old trainers and my new ones but it doesn’t make a difference. I’m wondering if I have Metatarsalgia? Does anyone else have this problem and know if there’s anything I can do to relieve this issue. I have invested in a good pair of insoles but they don’t seem to be helping. Maybe next step is going to see a podiatrist? Would appreciate any advice.

Hi. I had this problem in my early C25K days. I had a gait analysis and went with Brooks GTS running shoes. I happily ran without issues until a few weeks ago when I changed shoes to Mizuno Wave Inspire 16’s. they didn’t suit me and the issue came back. Numb right foot and pins and needles. So I’m back running in my Brooks again. Not sure if this will help at all. It might be worth getting a gait analysis in an Independant Running Shop or seeing a professional.

I've definitely suffered that problem recently, and this too was when I was upping my mileage. And just as I started to get really concerned, it went away again. I wondered whether it was swollen muscles pressing on a nerve (or whatever) and making my foot numb. It was numb for about 3 weeks in all!
