Hi All - this is my first post over on Bridge and marks some milestones for me...
So I achieved my slowest 5k time so far today ☹️- that one won't be getting logged at (not)parkrun! But I also managed my first 6k and to run for one hour for the first time!😁😁
I nearly didn't go out this morning, but having cried off yesterday because of the wind, half asleep, half awake I forced myself to get up. Once out it was not too warm, sunny but still very breezy.
I ran a route I haven't used for a few weeks - it was noticeable how the leaves are beginning to fall from the trees - a sign that Autumn is on its way. Where is this year going to?...
I deliberately slowed things down today, aiming for an easy, steady 5k. Through town and across the railway line and out into the fields the stiff breeze was refreshing, even if it was headwind.
Carrying on, eventually crossing back over the railway line, through more fields and out onto the main road on the opposite side of town and then back into more woodland towards home and I knew I was nearing the 5k mark. I felt good so I decided to keep running to see if I could reach 6k.
6k came (Yes!😁👍) and my legs were starting to feel it a bit. Apart from that I still felt good so I decided to carry on to see if I can reach the hour mark. Result: 1:00:02 and a distance of 6.58k. Not too shabby I think considering I couldn't run for toffee a few months ago!
The only trouble is I didn't route plan for this extra distance and I'm now a 2k walk from home 😂
I'm half way home, walking alongside a hedge, minding my own business and wallowing in my own (kind of) glory when I felt a searing, stabbing pain in the really tender inside part of my left arm! OUCH!!!!!!!! 🐝🐝🐝🐝
A wasp had been on my arm, and I had accidentally squashed it against my t-shirt! Not surprising it stung me!
Well that brought me back down to earth with a bang at the time, but now having returned home - antihistamine duly applied, two strong cups of coffee ☕ and a nice bath - I can't help but feel ever so slightly chuffed with myself 😁
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone
