A happy slow one

After my mini meltdown towards the year end I am so pleased to have put some kms into the tank for the first time this year.

After the torrential rain of the last few days the sun finally came out. It was breezy, the sky was blue so just perfect.

I had absolutely no plan for my run. My only goal was to get out and run. No specific route, no specific distance and no identified pace so I just put Mr Garmin on the heart rate zone face and tried to keep as much as possible in zone 2.

Although I have lived here for 30 years or so I ended up running around estates I had never been through before. I got lost a few times but just carried on. Down some muddy tracks - bad news for my lovely clean new shoes 😀 - across some playing fields and exploring more streets.

I thought it would be good to get 30 minutes under my belt and waited for the 4km buzz to come from my watch. I must have missed it as when I took a quick peek I was already at 34 minutes and coming up to 5k. I then thought it would be nice to get up to 6k, then up to 4 miles.

It felt great to get a 45 minute run in. I'm not fully recovered yet but hopefully will continue to improve.

Happy running everyone

I love this exploring run, even though the area is familiar, it's magical what's on our doorsteps, you're in a car you don't notice these things.... The simple pleasures a run can bring to a day!!!

Cracking klms 🌟🌟

It was really strange to think I had never been down some of these streets and I've lived here for years. I was getting lost in a 2 mile radius of my own home 🤣

My favourite sort of run, I’ve too found places I didn’t know were there before running round the streets. We never saw sun though not today

The sun just makes the whole world seem a happier place. Hopefully it will shine for you soon Sola. 🌞

Would be nice, it’s threatening to shine on Wednesday when I’ll be at work until long after darkness comes but spring will arrive and we’ll all get plenty of blue skies

Tomorrow and Wednesday are currently forecast as being fine here, rain on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and snow on Friday!

Snow would be nice it’s a couple of years since we saw snow and 10 years since we had a good amount

The winters of 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 were quite snowy. Something to do with an unusual combination of La Niña, a newly starting solar cycle and the North Atlantic Oscillation, IIRC.

Yes, probably the last time we had more than a dusting,

Sounds like a great run, slowing down brings its own rewards, doesn't it? :)

in reply to Yesletsgo

It certainly did today ☺ Thank you 👍

Good on you for getting out there again and great to see you enjoyed it. Fair play to you.

Well done and I am slightly jealous that you can discover new routes. I don't dare run in my city, feeling too much like a spectacle, haha!

That sounded like a great run - extending the distance because it feels good? Perfect!

in reply to Fionamags

It sure was great to extend the time out running. 👍
