Aches and Pains post C25K?

I am in the third week of consolidation runs, doing 5 or 6K steadily, around 5 mins 40 secs per K. The runs are fairly ok but i still get upper buttock / lower back pain in between runs, it’s not like pulled muscle pain but it’s there. I’m just over 6ft tall and 13.5 stone. I always do the 5 minutes warm up walk. Anybody else having this issue? It’s very annoying. I have taken 2 and 3 day breaks between runs (even a week once) but not much difference.

Are you doing any other stretches or strengthening exercises? If not I would look into doing some on a regular basis as it really helps with the aches & pain. Also add some dynamic warm up stretches to your walk. Lots of videos on YouTube & I particularly like ‘The Running Channel’. Good luck x

I would recommend James Dunne on YouTube for ideas about strengtheningyour body to support your running. Other lifestyle issues such as sitting for long periods to work etc can also cause issues. If it gets worse, I would consult a physio, but working on hip stability , core and glute muscles might help?

Great work but sounds like you need more stretching out. As others have said there are loads of andvice and videos. I just look up nhs runners stretches, great simple ones that really make sense. Happy running 🤗
