Ok, so posting here before my run today really helped me to hold myself to account and kick myself out the front door!
Consolidation Week 1 Run 1 done!!!
I used the C25K+ Stepping Stone podcast and it was good to still have Laura pushing me on. Also really pleased the music included is much much better - even a bit of funky house!
Discovered a number of new things to ponder:
- I am not a fan of 150BPM running - feels too slow and this section felt like it would never end!
- Much more comfortable with 155BPM
- Living for 160BPM
I think it’s the ex-dancer in me but I really enjoyed matching my steps to the beat - this familiarity really helped me push through and (again) I am happy and surprised with my stats!
Thank you to everyone who responded to my morning moaning post - you all helped me to snap out of my head (for 32:43 minutes at least!).
Lovely bunch you are!

Hi PhoenixRise🙂 Firstly, well done for getting out on your run - its hard to always have the motivation - but you proved you had discipline and did it anyway! 👍
A great set of stats and I love that the dancer in you enjoyed matching those steps! 😀 I am woefully bad at anything that requires a certain bpm - but then I always was a rubbish dancer! 🤣😳
Same here ! Did same run on Saturday - stepping stones for my first consolidation run and I too found it rather slow - but loved the discipline of trying to stick to the beat - made the time pass and didn’t notice the effort as much as usual. But you must have very long legs or a long stride ! I don’t understand how at that pace you can run 5k so quickly ! It took me 42 mins - 3 mins longer than my PB (which was actually my first and only 5k achievement prior to this one !). Explain that !! Anyway this morning I did the ‘speed’ podcast in the series of 3 and loved it ! Interval training. Short at only 17 mins I think but the faster running takes it out of you. Looking forward to the ‘stamina’ 3rd podcast !
Twinning! Hehe! You’re so right - it does make the time go faster sticking to the beat and counting along! I hate to reveal that I do not have long legs (wish I did!) so it must be the stride (although I don’t think that’s particularly long either!). I’m as baffled as you are! Congratulations on your 5K though! I’ve got the speed podcast lined up for Weds so I hope I love it as much as you did. Is there a Stamina podcast too?!
the 3rd podcast is stamina and I just had a sneak preview - eek ! It’s 35 mins of paced running (158-160 steps per min) with the last 5 mins at 165 ! Those last 5 mins will be agonising ! - so that’s my line up for Thursday (.... checks weather forecast - is going to be hot so will have to be an early morning run !). Enjoy Speed !
Hi PhoenixRise, thank you for your inspiring post. - I read it before today’s run, so promptly decided to give steppingstones a try.😄 (I have been intending to use it & not got round to it.)
I incorporated it into a slightly longer run & shaved 5 mins straight off my last 5k time- who knew!! If I keep using this I may become a 🐌, rather than a 🐌 🐌 ! 😂
