Those of you who have read my posts for a while will know that I have had rotten luck over the last couple of years with either myself or a dog being injured so that I’ve had to run solo, at events I’ve entered, or not at all.
The demon has struck again.
Yesterday morning I got smashed in the legs by someone else’s large dog when it was playing with mine.
I thought I’d be okay RICE-ing, but a few hours later it became apparent that I wasn’t.
And now I’m sitting in the hospital with a fractured tibia (broken knee cap).
2 weeks into a plan is definitely the earliest it has hit.
*insert cranky face here*
On the plus side, it did let me complete my leg of the virtual challenge on Thursday before nobbling me.

Oh, I feel for you! Hope your tibia heals quickly, sounds very nasty. Same thing happened to me 5 or 6 years ago. I was happily walking across a field with my young dog when we were joined by two energetic larger dogs. All were happily running around, when bang, I was on the ground with a ruptured ACL!! I have been wary of unaccompanied dogs ever since!
Oh, poor you. Hope you heal quickly. Have to say, I’ve a real issue with people not being in control of their dogs but to be fair, sounds like a totally random accident on the dogs part! Hope pain settles.
In the absence of a CT scan, and after what my consultant said this morning, I am actually preparing myself for the worst case scenario of surgery and 6 months recovery.
Oh no! But it can be done. Maybe the previous injuries have all been training for this moment. You are prepared. You can do it. You WILL run again. In the meantime, hugs and lots and lots of sympathy 😘
Oh my goodness Maddee, that sounds painful! Hope the meds you've been given are helping and it doesn't take too long to heal from coz that sounds like a doozy! Feel better soon xx
Just seen this post Maddee. That's absolutely rotten luck. It happened to two ellow dog walker friends of mine but both suffered ankle injuries. I'm so sorry and sending you virtual hugs and wishes for as speedy a recovery as possible 🤞🤞🤞
Oh NO!!! I am so sorry to hear this, you really do have bad luck when it comes to accidents 🙁. That must have been so painful, I hope you managed to get to hospital quickly. Extended period of no running - again 🙁...... but you will be back!
Fingers crossed I appear to be doing fine. I’m bending it okay - up to the 90 degrees I am allowed - and after a few problems with my back in the first couple of weeks I’m now exercising, albeit in a wheelchair as I’m not weight bearing yet.
