Getting a bit discouraged

Feeling a bit low! It seems as if I have been suffering from ill health and injury for months! March was an infection, April an injury, this week IBS and injury flared up again! I have increased stretches and still struggling. Only did 4 k today and really struggled with it.

Sorry just needed to vent as really missing my longer runs.😥😟😭

Just want to say how sorry I am you’re not feeling good at the moment, but also to tell you how great it was that you even managed 4k. Can you imagine saying “just” 4k when you began your running journey? 👍

Hope you feel better soon and your injury gives you a break. Stay safe. 😀

Haha no this time last year running any distance wasn’t even in my mind!

You've not had a great few months Womangolfer and I hope things really start to get better for you. But do you know you got out and you ran that 4k and fingers crossed you start to feel better and get back out to enjoy your long runs. 😊😊

Thank you Buddy. I do feel as if I am struggling at the moment.

I do sympathise. I've been struggling with a niggle myself, and haven't wanted to even think about running for a couple of weeks now. Went out for a gentle 5K this morning. Like your 4K, that would have been unthinkable a year ago. Hope things improve for you.

And you too! It’s so frustrating,😥

So sorry to hear you are feeling down. 4k is never an only - you have all this and lockdown going on and you still managed a 4k. Go celebrate that fact. Imagine a time before c25k - you're IBS playing up, something stressful in life is going on, and someone says hey, why dont you pop out and run a couple of miles - well, that's what you managed🤗

Thank you Gh. I can always rely on you for a sensible response. You always cheer me up. I know I’m being silly but it is so annoying and I really am missing the longer runs. Also really missing my children and their partners. It was my daughter in law’s birthday yesterday and face time just isn’t the same as being able to give her a hug. She doesn’t have any parents and we are very close.

Tough times but we are all doing our best to get through it. Hold strong. Think how very sweet these first meet ups are going to be. 🥰🤗

Sorry to hear you’re not too well at the moment Wg - I hope you’re feeling better soon! In the meantime, you didn’t ‘only’ do 4km. The fact is that despite feeling lousy you got out there and ran 4km! Which has to be better than sitting on that couch! So massive well done to you!

Thank you. Feel like a moaner but it’s better to get it out.🤣

Hi! Well I like this kind of post because this is what you're all about. It is easy to enjoy the good runs even everything is going for us and we do deserve those times. But what about now? These runs? We're not right 100% mentally or physically but yet we go out knowing we aren't perhaps going to enjoy it. This is what you're about!! You are about being brave, getting out there, leaving all the excuses behind and doing it. So really I view this completely the other way around. You won today. The demons tried but you won. 2k 4k or 6k is irrelevant. When you got your kit on and went out you had won. The struggle is infact the victory. Well done 🏆today was 4k not feeling so good. Three of them a week is 12k x 4 weeks almost 50k a month. Now that's not bad at all eh? See it as a small step on a longer journey. Well done. Be proud of yourself. I'm proud of you and I don't even know you.

Omg! This brought tears to my eyes! See I am a bit low! Thank you for all the encouragement. I never really thought of it like that just saw the disappointment of injury dragging on and everything else. Are you a motivational speaker? If not you should be.

I've felt much the same. Went out this morning for a 5k which was my first in 11 days. I've had both knees really sore then had a swollen ankle. I too love the longer runs. It makes me feel alive. I also just think of today. One at a time. Today has already been good. You've run, I've run and we are already thinking of the next one. That long run will come and will happen. We know that so don't need to worry. We'll build up to it and when we get there it'll be even more special. Always remember: 'What thought can think, another thought can mend. '

What wise and wonderful words, I was beating myself up because I didn't hit my 6k goal today. Managed 5.86 I'm (run out of run).

Your reply to womangolfer made me so much better about it. Cheers

Sorry to hear your not feeling all that well. You got out and run, please be kind to yourself and celebrate that achievement x

Sorry to hear of your problems. 4K's pretty good though. It can be a struggle, but peoples persistence is truly inspiring to all of us. Its easy to write about the great runs, but harder when all is less than perfect.

It seems to me though you are doing a great job of kicking the Gremlins out. They are weeasely little b***ers, but as you get stronger they get weaker.

Please take it steady, but each time you win they lose. They'll have a bit of an undermining winge "Oh you only did 4k" but that really means that you've got them on the run!

Take care now!

I think I will take a few more days off and try to kick injury and ibs right to the curve before I try another run. This will be difficult as I struggle not to go for a run!

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. I will still be stalking you all here. Hope to be back on the road soon
