26th 10k completed and fundraising target achieved ๐ŸŽ‰

Yesterday I ran my last 10k run of my twenty-six 10ks challenge to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society and as I reached my fundraising target - which I am over the moon about- I did it in the banana costume l made for the 13th run. My husband accompanied me on his bike to take some photos and videos. I started off slow as I didn't want to overheat and thankfully there was a bit of a breeze - l even managed negative splits! The sight of banana running brought smiles to many people I encountered and I also got quite a few beeps. This made me smile too and supposedly running is easier if you smile ๐Ÿ˜. Now, what to do next? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I am thinking of gradually increasing distance to get to 10 miles (16+K). Does anyone have any plans on how to do this? I did get up to 12k on one of my runs. Will l need to eat or drink during 10 miles (this is what puts me off on longer distances)? I always have porridge with fresh fruit and honey at least an hour before I run, plus drinks. Thanks

Wow! What an amazing achievement - how long did it take you to run all those 10ks? I love the fact that you also ran as a banana ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ that must have brought a few smiles to many faces during these tricky times. A really wonderful fundraising effort for a very worthwhile charity.

As for increasing your distance - yes, most people would fuel a 10 mile run. You could look in to something like Tailwind, which is a powder and complete fuel which you just mix with your water. I really like it, although I am also partial to a homemade 'power flapjack occasionally ! I think it's all about finding what works best for you. Good luck.๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the links Sandraj39, I will look into it. I started the challenge on 15th April runner two a week, which were my only runs. I quite like the 10k distance as I always find the first 5k the hardest part - just warming up ๐Ÿ˜‰. Plus you could get further, especially in lockdown! ๐Ÿ˜€

Massive congratulations, 26 x 10k is amazing and such a great cause, well done. Puts my marathon over 4 runs for them to shame. After all these 10ks your body is very ready for hitting longer runs but give it a break with mixed up short runs now. For my 14k yesterday I had ยฝbanana and loads of tea/water before starting, but hadnt had any breakfast. I always take a couple of jelly babies with me, only ate/sucked one at about 7k to give a tiny boost for the 2nd half of my run. 24hrs later I'm still hungry though๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ happy running ๐Ÿค—

Thanks for the tip Grannyhugs. Jellybabies sound good and digest able ๐Ÿ˜. The trouble is, this running lark gives you an appetite. I think I have put on 2kg which I can't say is muscle... Probably due to my age and too many toffees ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've lost 2kg during our house move during lockdown- not good as already on lower end of normal so great excuse for eating more๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
