Well I had invited Flick to join me this morning for a virtual run and not one for letting people down I got out there and ran. I have to ask where did the sun disappear too? I’m not complaining of course as it was a welcome gift to run in the rain! Yes I know the rain had paid us a visit. It was still a bit muggy but that aside the rain was very welcome. I was rather childish though as I was running along I stuck my tongue out towards the sky and welcomed the drops of rain it was lush!😝😝

Now then I did take the same route as the other day so it was through my village “Llangrove”the back of Franks farm where I said good morning to the hens and thanked them for their delicious eggs that provide hubby and I with beautiful breakfasts etc.

Down passed the newly harvested fields towards “Llangarron” and passed a beautifully painted cottage with a fab sign on the door “ This is a happy home” it looks it too. Passing another wee cottage I spied a black and white cat poking its head up from its sleep, lying in the rain looking at me inquisitively. As I passed it and said good morning it promptly laid back down . And of course lots of birds singing beautiful!

Finally I arrived into the next village and passed the church and oh I was a wee bit sad to see Fred Butts cottage had now been sold. Fred was a super old guy who used to service our car and even though hubby is 61 he would always call hubby “Son” which made hubby chuckle. Fred was a typical country bumpkin and nothing was too much trouble for him. I wonder where he’s gone sad.........

So onward over the little bridge and up onto the ridge which is quite steep so power I think.Once I was on the flat it wasn’t too bad. The views are fantastic up here and you can see for miles.🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️but you certainly know about it. But like I have said before what goes up must come down so that brings me nicely to the down bit which is steep so had to slow pace down a bit and then I cross “Slutty Bridge” yes folks that’s what it’s called this lovely little bridge with stream running underneath, with some lovely fish 🐟swimming. The name is dating back centuries I think and I think the story is in the the name if you know what I mean? Whoops just managed to steer my feet away from a resting frog in the road!🐸

Climbing even more hills ..well power walking this particular as it is the steepest I carry on my journey passing fields of cows and as I reach the water pumping station I see the sheep in the opposite fields. Oh what a fab morning. And I’m not feeling too bad. Legs are starting to ache. 😩

Eventually I reach the last village of my humongous journey and decided to vary my route a wee bit which fooled hubby when he came to pick me up! Well I couldn’t do the return journey could I now! ? So I went through this last village “Whitchurch” and said morning to some early risers. I realised that even though I pass this village when I returning from work I have really never seen until now how pretty it is.Theres an olde worlde coffee shop, and lovely little cottages and one that is called “The old Bakery” 🤔🤔 I wonder what that once was hee hee!

Passed the clock house and yippee there is my wonderful husband waiting for me !

So hoped you enjoyed this post as much as I did enjoy running it! and it was great to have you with me Flick 👍👏👏

Happy running and keep safe 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️😀😀

Well done Maggie, and nearly 9k. I really need to do another long one soon, but it’s a pain as none of the routes here take you that far, so you have to run in circles when you get back to make up the distance.

Wonderful run and fantastic description. I was with you every step of the way. It seems we both had extra steep bits to tackle today, but yours went on longer, and your elevation gain is more.

Fantastic run, we must do it again. Maybe we could stop at the coffee shop too 😊☕️🍰

in reply to

Thanks Flick, for your kind words. And it was great to run with you,yes we should do it again. Oh and and yes coffee and cake would go down a treat😋😋 Yes we both had hilly bits. Your photos are brilliant. Looking at them is almost home from home.

I’m still trying to upload my photos from my Nokia 3110 but still having trouble.

Anyway Flick happy running and keep safe😀😀❤️

in reply to

Would love to see your pics xxx

in reply to

I’ll keep trying😀😀

It’s easy for me. I just airdrop them from my iPhone to my Mac. Can you Bluetooth them? If you have google pics, you can upload them to there (if you haven’t fot automatic upload switched on) then download them to the computer. Or just create a post on here with your phone and upload from there. Google pics might be your best bet as you can create a collage in there. Or just email them to yourself from phone to computer and go from there.

Thanks Flick!😀😀

Fantastic! Sounds like the two of you had a great virtual run together. It sounds like a nice part of the world to run. I have to ask, but do I want to know... "slutty bridge"?

Those place names are very welsh sounding though. You must be fairly near the border, I'm guessing.

I'd better do some work anyway, but I'm glad you had an enjoyable run, and that the weather was a little cooler. It certaily helps, doesn't it?

in reply to

YesNeil hubby and I live on the border of Monmouthshire. Llangrove was originally part of Wales and I think the English claimed it? Anyway it is so beautiful here and no I don’t think any of us wants to know the story behind Slutty bridge or brook I think is the name ha! 😀😀

in reply to

Slutty is probably a corruption of slatty.

in reply to

Maybe that’s right Flick. Originaly the name was Ganarew stream (Slutty Brook) which runs between Llangrove and joins up with a village called Welsh Newton. 😀😀❤️

in reply to

Ah! Well that would make sense. As it was formerly Welsh, is the "Ll" pronounced as Welsh does, rather like a soft "th"? I know it's not exactly like that, but English doesn't really have that sound I don't think :D

So the bridge of loose morals eh? Well, at least it provides a point of interest to spice up long runs!

in reply to

I was thinking more along the lines of the bridge that had wooden slats once upon a time - but then, as you point out, the original name was probably Welsh.

in reply to

Yes I think it maybe the bridge of loose morals hee! hee!😀😀

in reply to

Lol you just WANT it to be the bridge of loose morals 😂

in reply to

Well Flick ! No ! Who me? Never! hee! hee! 🤫😂😂It certainly is a conversation piece 😀😀x

in reply to

I love the direction this conversation has taken!!

in reply to

Ha! ha! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

in reply to

Oh and don’t work too hard!😀😀

in reply to

I have to be perfectly honest... I'm still recovering from my Bridge to 10K graduation run yesterday, so concentration is a little challenging today, particularly in the graveyard after lunch period! Still, back to it, as I have stuff that needs to get done :/

in reply to

Hope your 10k recovery doesn’t take too long😀😀

in reply to

Thank you! Most of it will be letting my poor legs have a rest from the unaccustomed exercise I’ve been putting them through this past year, just a bit is that I’m still in shock from actually managing 10k!!
