How to celebrate the 2000km mark?!

I am 20km away from the 2000km mark...and am wondering how to mark this special occasion. I already got a new pair of trainers about 4 weeks ago due to some heel pain. I have relatively new running kit too.

Any ideas? A watch (I still just use my phone for tracking runs)? A massage? A pasta carbonara?!

You could buy a watch for that great day you will have ran 2000 Kilometres/1242.742 miles, however, if you like me are used to just using your phone then celebrate by buying the latest Smartphone on the market. Congratulations. did you start your running with C25K and when did you graduate?

Thanks for your reply! I started about 2.5 years ago with the NHS C25K but had to repeat it as I moved continents and didn't complete the full 9 weeks. After that, I just started slowly building up - I'm not a fast runner by any means and the longest run is 11km. I never claimed the graduation badge - but just kept going!

Definitely a watch, I have had my Garmin since August last year and I love it. Then you can go get a massage and then eat the pasta carbonara. You need all 3 to celebrate such a milestone 🥳🥳

I did the pasta already - very good! What sort of Garmin do you have? There are SO many choices...hard not to get overwhelmed.

I bought a garmin forerunner 35. Easy to use and gives you gps, heart rate , cadance, elevation etc. You can also download the garmin connect app on your phone and it transfers over when you finished your run. 👍

Watch definitely... and a massage... and some lovely pasta... and maybe more shoes 🤣

Actually, may have to look into more shoes - my heel pain persists but I went to an osteopath yesterday and am being advise to strengthen the glutes and try more lighter running.

Makes sense... glutes make a big difference. Shoes always good though 🤣

I've been told to shorten my runs and focus on the glutes - so am going with that new strategy. Happy weekend running!

Well done... I run everyday and I always mark the 'big' ones by dressing up in gold... maybe you could do that, or similar? And new running kit is always good. If I have treats its usually of the eating variety ( ie cake, sweets etc etc)

Dressing up in gold - I love it!

Massive congratulations, that’s some distance. Ooh all sound good but I’d go for a watch, I bought mine on graduating c25k and just love pouring over all the stats, comparing runs, thinking up new targets. I have a garmin forerunner 35. Happy running 🤗

I just hit 2002 km yesterday and feeling pleased with myself. I am thinking about a watch but so many choices. The Garmin booklet that I have does not have the Forerunner 35 but does have the 45. Are you happy with your watch? Which stats do you use most often?

Love love love my watch. Love the maps, love the graphs for elevation, hr, activities over week/month/year, calories burned to justify sneaky snacks, sharing/comparing data with other family members on garmin, the only thing I didn't like was the move alert which I switched off ha ha.

What an endorsement for a watch! I've started my research :)

Quick question, Grannyhugs: could I use the Nike Run App on the Forerunner 35? I use the guided runs a lot on my phone and am wondering if I could still use that app? I don't know much about how these watches work

Buddy34 you know anything about this app? sofaspud I run without apps or music just me, my watch and nature

Sounds lovely. I enjoy the guided runs for guidance and inspiration. Also useful for interval training. I've spent a couple of hours looking into watches but can't see how they sync with the guided runs. I think I would need a Garmin with some sort of music feature...

Perhaps I'll ask in a different post on this forum.

As far as I know you can't run an app from the watch

Me too mine is switched off. I'd done the housework , ran a 10k, walked the dog then was standing ironing and it told me to move. I won't say what I told it to do 🤣🤣
