First 10K in the bag

Having started Couch to 5K in September after a break from running for 30 years, I can honestly say it has been a journey.

I have found parkrun and am 30 seconds short of being sub 30 minutes, something that I hope to remedy today. Also something I had never contemplated saying πŸ˜€

On Thursday whilst following the Ju Ju plan, something felt right and I just kept going and broke the magical 10K mark.

I recommend C25K to everyone, and suggest parkrun to people regardless of their ability. Running has helped me both physically and mentally and I am grateful to the programme for giving me that headspace during a working day that I would never have had before.

Thank you all for your support and advice on these boards.

Good post from you Foz4star, I just hope you can run a sub 30 minute 5K at this mornings park run, only 30 seconds is not too much to ask for, good luck.

Yes it’s sometimes worth remembering where we were before we started c25k.

Definitely a life changer for me. I was on meds for high blood pressure, overweight and an ideal candidate for the 2 diabetes. Now I not only look healthier, feel healthier, but I am healthier. No couch for me now. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ.............. πŸ›‹

Sorry, I forgot to say Congratulations on your first 10k. It’s great when everything flows well on a run and you just don’t want to stop.

Thanks all for the well wishes and support.

I finished my parkrun in 30:38 so did not hit my target, but still walk away content with a PR for 1 mile, 1K and 1/2 mile πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸŽ‰

Plenty of strong segments on the run, just need to push through and combine them all in to one stellar run soon.

Yay.Nice! I've not felt any urges towards PR ......yet! But love hearing others' experiences.

Having only participated in 12 parkrun events across two different locations; I am not an expert, but I have found it to be very inclusive and not in the slightest elitist.

Give it a go, you will wonder why you waited so long.
