Ah. That’s a pity. I did my first NYD in January. It was a great experience.

The issue was travelling between events and parking problems. Your local parkrun can still choose to do the NYD event.

Slight misinterpretation from me. NYD double has gone. If NYD falls on a day other than Saturday your parkrun may choose to do an additional run on NYD.

So we might see extra runs held on Xmas and NYD but as you say, no more doubles.

Someone asked what double was on New Year's Day, parkruns on that day up to 2020 took place at 9 am in England and Wales and 9.30 if you are in Scotland or Ireland, so if a runner wanted to run at 9 am and then again at 11 am that is double, however, that is no longer going to happen, the park runs can still take place but all at the same time on New Year's Day.

After saying that, a single run might not take place on first January 2021 if there is a second wave of Covid 19, just hope that doesn't happen.

Shame. I did the double the year before last and it was a blast. ❤️

An inevitable consequence of growing runner numbers and the focus on making sure parkrun is open to everyone no matter what their pace. The article on the volunteer email cites the problem for the slower runners of making the second event start, as well as the pressure on volunteers, traffic and parking.

Really sad about this. So many people love double parkrun near me. We used to run between them too 😢
