I woke at 5.45, and looked out the window and thought “ mmm maybe too blustery to run ??” Came down stairs and waded through the cats, out into utility room where I was joined by all 4 STARVING creatures ... dished up dry food with a small topping of wet so they don’t sulk, and then put just wet food for my poorly boy in the 4th bowl. Then tried to get 3 bowls of food down with only one 🐈 head in each bowl, whilst also trying to stop Loki from getting his head in a bowl, before I took him and HIS food back into the sitting room to put his medicine on top of it before letting him eat. Phew!!! Worn out before I started. Then I had to wait for him to finish so I could put the buster collar back on or he immediate starts trying to remove the dressing from his leg. He’s obviously beginning to feel a lot better because he’s starting to get cheeky again. He’s learnt he can hide under the coffee table, or at the top of the cat tree on the back perch and I struggle to get to him to put the collar back on. Had to get a chair and climb up to the cat tree yesterday to get him in the carrier to go to get his dressing changed!!! 😡 he knows I won’t grab him and drag him out because I don’t want to hurt his poorly leg. He also puts on a good turn of speed and pegs it up the stairs and hides under my bed to avoid the “ cone of shame” too.

Anyway I fought my way through that lot ( we’ll call that my warm up exercises) then went up and put my running gear on and here I made a rookie mistake...... I foolishly put a long sleeve top on!!!! Well it’s a lot cooler AND it was really windy but I didn’t need it really. After my first 5 mins I had rolled the sleeves up and undone the zip neck. Glad I just had long shorts not leggings!!! I had set off to see how I felt before deciding how long I would run for ... I’d got an hour’s worth of music ... but I soon realised that was being a bit ambitious this morning. I’ve had a couple of days of stiff lower back/buttocks and I’ve given myself 2 days rest and also done lots of stretches and foam rolling but still felt a bit locked up in that area.

I set off to do my route through the deserted town, ( normal people having a Sunday lie in) then joining the old Taunton railway line ( now a pedestrian track) and running up towards the Park School. I say up... it’s only a slight slope but it does go on a bit... but then there is a glorious run down the other side towards the Park. I always enjoy that bit and find myself running down it like Phoebe from Friends.🤣 then through the park , which I nearly had to myself this morning.....only saw one runner coming the other way and a dog walker on the other side of park.... and the huge flock of Canada geese along the riverbank as usual. Then back along the side of the river back towards the centre of town. I was coming up to 4K here and decided to call it a day at 5 (tummy not v comfortable and didn’t want to do a Radcliffe) and then turned and headed for home.

Walking back I realised I’d been quite nippy (for me )even against the wind ...no world record but faster than lately so that cheered me up. And I didn’t get rained on so that was good too.

Of course after I’d showered, dried my hair and dressed and walked into town to get more sloppy cat food for the boy, I got rained on then..... for about 5 solid minutes so I was soaked and then the sun came out for the wet walk home 😡. But it was a good morning for a run. Maybe I’ll manage the 60 minutes again NEXT time ..🤞

You sure will manage it soon. No pressure on yourself because it'll come. Well done on getting out and also for a good time.

A few weeks back I was running 3 x 60 mins runs a week and now I’m struggling to get past 40 again. I think I overdid everything for a few weeks trying to take my mind of being alone at home and then I had to have a weeks rest and now I’m building up again. 🙄

Well done, no rain here but very windy... I think I dodged the weather also this morning being out really early, I think it was the best part of the day here in Northants.

That was hilarious - those cats have got you well trained, haven't they? Great time for your 5k - almost cracked the 40 minute barrier! That's my target for the moment.

Happy running.

Last year and the year before I’d got it down to 37:40 but can’t get below 40 mins now. That virus end of last year really took it out of me ☹️

Busy morning limberlou even before your run with all your cats. I'm glad Loki is feeling much better , that must be a weight off your mind.

Your running is going great , just enjoy 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🐱

Yes it is re Loki. I found one of his toys this morning - a little wobble mouse that you put dried treats in. It was free with Dreemies ( but none of my lot like Dreemies) and I put hairball treats in it. He is the only one Of the 4 who can get them out and he has played with that quite a lot and got them all out. Then I turned my back for 2 minutes and he was at his bandage again- such a naughty boy

Just love the cat tales.. ❤️ and your run sounds good LL and calling it at 5k sounded spot on to me.... listening to your body is so important.

Yeah if I’d carried on to 7 or to 10 even it would have been much slower the second half 🤣. Glad I stopped when I did though as I’ve just come back from a long walk with one of my sons and I’m shattered now 🥵

Your description of the cats and their breakfast made me smile 😊, certainly sounded like a good warm up! 😂

They certainly keep me in my toes. They kept me sane during lockdown - them and my running ..
