So this months goal of 5k by the end of June scheduled for next weekend. I'd added 3 mins to last weeks run to reach 4K, this weeks goal was another 3 mins or so to reach 4.5k. I set off, watch would not synch with phone ๐ and it was so hot! I don't do heat. So I struggle through the entire run, gremlins trying to persuade me to have a little walk but I kept running and did not enjoy it one bit. I get towards 4.5k and I'm thinking that this awful run will loom like a spectre next week and potentially scupper my 5k goal. So, in my odd twisted logic I thought "well you've hated 4.5k you might as well hate another 500meters" so I kept going and strangely the last 500m flew by so quickly (still hated it) so first 5k this year 39.30 minutes. Not fast, not pretty, not enjoyable, but done ๐๐๐

Those runs are the ones which prove you can do it FG! We all get them sometimes, but we carry on and weโre pleased we did. ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐

Brilliant, well done. ๐ I just graduated last night and in 30 mins I'm doing 4.16k, so sounds similar. Fought hard against having a little walk in the middle of w9r3, but near the end found more energy from somewhere! I've been wondering if I could just keep going... We shall see next week!๐ค
Well done on graduating x I think my final graduation run was 3.7k so youโre a wee bit faster. I always find the second half of the run easier x Iโm staying to same distance next week then adding another 500 metres the following weekend

I just need to set an achievable goal and stick to it. If I know itโs achievable the gremlins canโt touch me. If I set a goal thatโs questionable the gremlins will win. I was caught out with that last time I did c25k 18 months ago. I think 90% is mindset. I nearly stopped to walk today and if I had, that wouldโve been it tbh I know my mind well enough to know that if I give in to the gremlins just once the little bastards will take over completely x

Great decision to do that last 500mtrs. Even though you didn't enjoy the run I bet you got enjoyment from knowing you'd achieved your first 5km. May your next run feel effortless.
