Hiya
I hope you and your loved ones are well and the lockdown isn't too hard on you.
After running with no target in mind I decided to jump onto a plan. As I ran 6k comfortably last Saturday, I decided to follow Ju-Ju's 10k magic plan and start on week 2. I have run 10k before, my app tells me it was on 4th April, but this seemed more realistic than a 10k - half marathon.
Week 2 run 1 was for only 3km which I did first thing in the morning and it took me 16:46. Run 2 (this one) was 5km.
When I left the house after work(ing from home) it was thundering. I love the thunder personally, do you? I've never run in thunder before, and I don't remember the last time I even ran in the rain. The only downsides were the large puddles that gradually formed in the park I ran around, and the fact my shoes got a tad waterlogged, though not badly. Other than that I can but hope all future runs go as well!
Though it got fairly torrential at times it wasn't cold or windy so I plodded on. The rain was really nice to run in. My clothes didn't feel heavier, I could more easily keep my fringe out of my face, and barely had any competition. The paths were almost completely free of people, all of whom seemed to be huddled under any available roof.
The stormy weather stopped after around 20 minutes, so my last few minutes or so were spent drying up. I wasn't aiming to be quick at all, though when I saw the time I was on at 4km I did push a little to reach 5k. You can see this in the results below.
1km 5:29 | 2km 5:47 | 3km 5:42 | 4km 5:53 | 5km 5:14
Total time: 28:07 | Average pace 5:37 min/km
So yes all in all I'm very happy and hope it's stormy again on Friday!
The picture was taken this morning when it was very foggy. I didn't have a good one to represent the soggy run but think it's a nice photo. Friends insist it reminds them of films like silent hill!
Keep running keep smiling and enjoy life as much as possible
