The weekend is always my time for doing the longest run of the week. So today I set off with minimum faffage and a clear route in mind and inspiration from Kipchoge and his marvelous marathon ππΏ
Last week my long run was 8.9k in 59 minutes (the longest so far) and felt pretty good at the end of it. So, doing the same route today with a bit extra was a no-brainer. TODAY I RAN 9.46K π€£ππΌββοΈβ€οΈ
I took some photos along the way, not my usual wildlife/happy photos, but very sad tributes to riders who have died along this road πͺ These people kept me going today as I thought... They will never be able to ride this route again, but I can run it...so don't give up now!
I'm looking forward to next week when I will hopefully not only run for over 60 minutes, but also break the 10k barrier! ππΌββοΈβ€οΈ
Enjoy the rest of your weekend xxx

Good run for you today but that road seems pretty dangerous with the amount of people who have been killed, never a good idea to run along main roads, especially roads that are particularly dangerous,
Love the way your distance is gently creeping up! I am a bit behind you having only done 8k but I like your way of adding half a kilometre and might give that a go. It might stop me being quite so intimidated by 9k!
This is brilliant, well done on your long run. Next week will be amazing hitting 10K. Me too, it will be a wonderful acheivement and what a big boost! All the best
I am very careful and the road is much slower now with the 40mph speed limit and speed cameras in place! And I was out quite early before much traffic was on the road ππ xx
Have you took your new trainers out for a spin yet? πππ
Ah glad all was good when you went out πββοΈπ
I didnβt venture out first thing as I had planned - Iβm just getting over a cold π₯Ά but by the afternoon I was feeling better and temptation got the better of me π did 2 miles just alternating a minute walking fast / running as I had not ventured out for two weeks resting my Achilles that had given me cause for concern ha ! But all went well thanx and felt goooood ! No excuses this next week for me not to be out there pounding away on the canal tow path !
Hope your having a good weekend, much planned ? Xx
Aw thanx x yes Iβm feeling loads better - it feels really weird to be honest, itβs like week one but I thought Iβd be out of breath really quickly but no, Iβve kept some fitness up which Iβm quite happy with - so Monday morning Iβll go out and probably do a intervals of a few minutes and just increase up gradually again.
Itβs a chilled out evening before work tomorrow. Catching up on a few emails & some of my fav music πΆ
Oh that's great! Yes, I have followed it very loosely. I think the major thing that I've done is strengthening and stretching excersises every day and PLANKS! Only 5 minutes, but it's made a huge difference! x
That's great - my strengthening has been concentrated more on my calves - which are thanking me - they still get tight at the beginning of a run, but no where near as much
I am very careful... Hi-Vized from top to bottom π€£ Maybe that's why I don't like to go out when there are many people about, because I look a bit like an escapee from the rainbow factory!? ππ
Don't you worry about how far you can run at this moment in time! It will happen when you least expect it π
