Good morning runners I love Saturdays, I even love the ones i work
We were doing so well this morning and i was hopeful of our fastest 5k but i saw too many dogs and someone from work who i spoke to while jogging round her and her children but 5k in 48 minutes is good enough for me and quite a bit of that on lumpy grass which slows us down oh and a bit on the stones because I just had to go and look at the sea
The sun was peeping through a haze of clouds and we came home warm and red and very happy
Have a good weekend runners
Here are a few foxgloves and my banana plant in the garden

Lovely picture a great start to the day!! I envy you running already. I've put mine off til later this afternoon but I'm a bit concerned there will be more people out due to relaxation of lockdown rules. We'll see. I'm going for a 35 minute run today and hoping I make the 4 k I achieved last week. Take care WillowandSola. Happy running everyone ๐
Great run for you both , you make it sound like fun. Love the photo of your Foxgloves. We grew them just last year they are beautiful but for some reason they didn't come back this year.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Thatโs a shame they didnโt come back but they are bi annual so there might be little ones that will flower next year ....oh lol this is a running site not gardening lol
We run slow and say hello to every dog and every person and it has to be fun or we wouldnโt do it, Willow is a bit horrified because i want to run longer than me but he walks a bit and sometimes smokes a bit while he waits for me to run on a bit more, over 4 months smoke free and my lungs and legs are stronger
I am and we give all dogs a wide berth and slow right down because daughters collie was very reactive and am very aware of how runners look scary to some dogs so they end up hating them
Hi guys - what a lovely morning for you both - I love your relaxed approach. The photos are lovely as always. ๐
Hi there, thank you, we are pretty old and tired so we go out with no real plan and see what happens, today was a lovely run which we really enjoyed, hope you are well
All good now thank you after a bit of a stressful week last week - urgent dash to hospital for our teenage son to have his appendix out!! Love the foxgloves in your garden - mine are still tiny and not flowering yet. Xx
Iโm not far over the Downs from you but we did have a few sharp frosts. The foxgloves in my garden appeared last year by themselves and Iโm so pleased they have come back this spring. They flowered later than this last year but lasted ages. Not bad for uninvited guests!! โบ๏ธ
Yaaay WillowandSola!! Thatโs a great run!! ๐คฉ๐คฉ As weโve been seeing a lot less of people recently, itโs definitely worth the opportunity to chat and spread the happiness! Enjoy the rest of your day!! ๐ค๐คโค๏ธ
Thanks Dexy, Iโm not really bothered about pace but then get a little kick if itโs a bit faster, our average pace was 9.42 a year ago we said we would be happy at under 11
For me i want to just run and run for longer, Willow is happy with 20 minutes then a run walk to the end
That is a lovely photo of your foxgloves and your banana plant in your garden.
Another good run for you today, I am glad that you enjoyed it, nice also meeting all those dogs, I like the bit about you coming home warm and red but also happy.
I also came home happy,(not sure about warm and red) after completing my 9th virtual 5K parkrun, I have been running them every week since the official ones stopped on the 14th March at 9.30, enjoy the rest of the day ๐.
You sound so absolutely chilled with your running it is an inspiration! And those plants - i mean .... bananas in the UK? Does it actually produce fruit?
Ha ha, thank you, no it hasnโt produced fruit, usually it gets frosted back in winter and starts anew in about April or may, this winter was so mild it just carried on growing, sadly every time there are a couple of leaves taller than the wall the wind comes along and snaps them off
I have seen small bananas on a plant in a sheltered corner of a garden not far from here
I bought it for indoors but it out grew the room very quickly
Btw if it ever bears fruit - did you know that you should chop it down and let it grow again? Otherwise it won't fruit again properly. That was something I learned when living in Malaysia - but then things grow like wildfire there - your poor plant might never recover...
Thanks and yes, iโm sure that each actual banana plant only fruits once but the new ones grow up alongside the original, we have three currently so always new coming through each year if frost kills off the old
Oh I have lots of stuff flowering that shouldnt be yet but not my foxgloves yet. I have marigolds that flowered all winter and are still going. I just keep deadheading them. I have lavender, salvias, clematis, iris, poppies, geranium and many others all flowering away madly and I have just sent for 12 diferent foxgloves from my gardening mag to repopulate my garden as they have thinned out so. Canโt wait for them to come. ๐
Oh and your run sounded good too. ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐
That a lovely photo W&S - not sure what happened to my Foxgloves, they disappeared! A nice run for you this morning - donโt blame you for wanting to look at the sea; thatโs why we love living where we do isnโt it?!
