Water on a run

I've just graduated from C25K and now running slightly longer (6k) just wondering if any has any advice of if you should run with a water bottle or not?

I've been told previously on here that if you are drinking the recommended 2-3 litres every day even on non run days you should be fine up to 10k. But if you want to take water with you that's your choice.

Congratulations on completing c25k and getting to 6k 😊😊

Personally I don’t take anything for that distance

It’s a personal decision. Some people take water on every run in hot weather, others take it for long runs only, while others never take it. If you’re well hydrated you don’t need it for a 6K run.

I take it for any run over 12K but in very hot weather I might take it for shorter runs.

You will get to know what your body needs and can cope with. As I started longer runs I ran with a bottle. I now know I can tolerate drinking loads as I head out the door and can run happily 1hr 15. But then have large glass when I get back. Happy running 🤗

I can’t run if I drink before I go out , I make sure I drink lots the day before and then after the run though. 💦🏃‍♀️💦

In very hot weather you might need it. You can take a plastic water bottle etc and then bin it when it’s empty A 250 ml soft flask is good and folds into your pocket when empty 🙂

I didn’t really need to carry water up to 10k but I wear a flipbelt and there is a small flipbelt bottle which I take to moisten my mouth occasionally or to drink straight after the run. When extending to 10 miles during last summer, I used a hydration vest so that I could sip as I ran. I use zero tablets too to replace electrolytes.
