Hi all. I finished week 4 of Ju-Ju's magic plan this morning and managed 8k in just over 49 minutes. Chuffed with that. Was very hydrated before I set off but was starting to feel warm by the end. What distance do you start taking water with you on runs?

When do you start taking water on a run?
Everyone is different, if you think you need water that means you do so take it. If you find you've managed a few runs in hot weather without needing it you can always try another run without it. Trust yourself and your body. Happy running 🤗
While on the bridge I found I needed the water at the end of the run, so carried a small bottle in my running belt to drink until I got home or to the car . It’s also nice to wet your mouth during the run in the heat. I’m a mouth breather so tend to dry up a bit.
Thanks for that. Yes, I think it's just having a little moisture in the heat. Will give it a go. I'm just not a fan of carrying much. I just have my phone on my arm at the moment so will have to invest in a belt. Cheers!
We're all different, but a frequently quoted rule of thumb is if you are properly hydrated, you shouldn't need additional water if running up to an hour. That said, when it's hot, we will sweat more and us "mouth breathers" do suffer more.
I've gone HM distance without topping up, but that's probably just me. Just go with what feels right. If you ask IannodaTruffe nicely, he may just dig up the very informative post (one of the many he's written) on the subject...
I always take water, a small bottle in my waist belt. I’m a bit Pavlovian if I don’t have it I really want it! It’s also nice at the end of my run to stop in the sun and enjoy the peace with no rush to go home.
